You can tell me to shut my big limey mouth but after watching w3gun on the tube, what the h... has shooting guns like that got anything to do with the old west.I thoght a pump action & a leaver action was suppose to hold 6 rounds other wise why dont they just uses a double mean if OLE Wyatt could have shot like that he did not need his brothers & Doc? The same as fast draw dont get me started on that lol .
Texas & Miss Lilly.
  shoot"em"first hang "em" later.

Other than moving, which is more realistic, how does the way they shoot differ from SASS?

Judge, Because when SASS invented their game, they figured it was only fair that all period correct shotguns including the pumps, like the 97's & lever's, like the 87's should be loaded with no more than 2 rounds at a time. The game/sport has nothing to do with real history other than we shoot the similar type firearms. WBR

Marshal Deadwood

I joined SASS,,went to a couple shoots.

Won't join again. That fact won't break the organization,,,,,,but shooting from behind a table just aint my idea of 'shootin.'

My guns have always had sights of some sort for a reason.

Dr. Bob

WBR,

To some of us the history of the old west is at least as important as the shooting.  That is why I am in NCOWS.  SASS is a fine organization for shooting the kind of competition that you like.  I happen to enjoy what we do a whole lot.  Neither one is better, just different!

Marshal Deadwood

History to me,,IS the driving force behind what I do.

On that note,,,can any of you folks enlighten me as to what patterns of the blue 'speckle ware' cookware is period circa 1860 ?

Is the blue speckle stuff we see in stores today the wrong 'pattern?'

Iv got heaps of 18th century stuff,,,tin plates,,brass and copper kettles,,,wooden spoons...even a sterling spoon correct to the mid 1770s that would float in and out of both eras,,,,,however....

for times id camp,,,id LOVE to have a blue speckleware coffee pot and cup. (being the huge coffee fan I am,,,this is an important thing to me boys)

Ottawa Creek Bill can tell you guys that I'm serious as the Grim Reaper about 'doing it right.'

Bill has been my friend and brother for years and years.

OH BTW boys ! Got my new hat,,,a Tim Bender 'bell crown',,or this might explain it better,,,a Pale Rider hat..

it dates to at least the   1850s.....i have pic and word docum if any of ya would like to take a peek,,,ya might find it interesting  to see all the different hats in the picture of a rescue party in 1859.

No matter the reason, anytime folks are in a shooting sport where everything is done in a safe and sane manner, it hurts no one but the Anti-Guns folks. ;)

Deadwood, start the question in a new thread rather than burying it in this one and I'll pass on what I know, there is not proper straight answer like most questions like this.

If I may say, Del, that's very well put.

Delmonico

Thank You pard, it is a thought that is sometimes lost on folks.  CAS/WAS shooting is the best thing to happen to gun rights since TR was president.  Folks who have been raised on the media and how guns are evil find the path to true enlightenment with the "harmless" guns that John Wanye and others used in the movies.  Then they find out there are no evil guns and often branch out into other things.

Deadeye Don

Marshal,
I thought that was a new look for you in your picture.  With regards to the  W3gun,  I think they are so new that we all need to let them get their feet wet and support them anyway we can.  We all love cowboy action shooting. If it works for those involved in the sport and they are doing it safely,  then I say more power to them.  I love NCOWS and consider it to be my primary group of interest and participation, but I also just joined SASS to support the larger organization.  Not sure if I will join the new group or not.  I am still wating to see what happens with it.   Safe shooting.  Deadeye.
