I was wondering if anyone uses an ultrasonic cleaner for cleaning gun parts, especially after using black powder? I see that there are some pretty reasonably priced ones now a days, but I have no knowledge of them or how good they work what so ever.

Thanks

The liquid would be pure filth in short order IMO and I guess I enjoy cleaning my guns the old fashioned way. I can clean a BP weapon far faster than a smokeless weapon.

I agree to a point . I too can clean SOME of my BP guns pretty quickly, but I shoot c&b at matches, and when there are 2 revolvers to clean , I was just looking for a little help with the dirty nipple/cyl while I worked on the rest. With cleaning the rifle, shotgun, pistol barrels, and punching primers, I was just looking for a little "cheater" to save time after a long drive home from the match.

I can clean & lube a cap 'n ball cylinder in mere minutes. Hold cylinder under flowing warm (not hot!!!) water at sink. Scrub nipples with toothbrush & Dawn. Use test tube brush to clean chambers. Shake dry. Run patches into chambers to dry. Liberally apply Ballistol. Done. Don't worry about the inside of the nipple as Ballistol will prevent rust and the next time you shoot run a pipe cleaner in each one before snapping caps.  ;)

This topic was already covered in the Dark Side forum. I encourage you to go there as there is a current thread.  ;)
