I thought all you pards might want to see a rig I made for a local bear hunter.  He wanted a cowboy looking rig for his S&W 500 Magnum.  Thing is he is very short and the barrel hung down almost to his foot.  But he was a happy camper when he picked it up.  He also walked a little lop sided  :D :D :D

Nice rig. That pistol is a bit much for me, though. :o

Great looking job Outrider.  Great minds must run together as I just border stamped a Buskyderroo rig, Ghormleys new BLACK CANYON RIG pattern set, in what looks the same way.  To top it off your color is almost a dead ringer fer a mixture I plan to use.  My thoughts are to edge it in black with a couple of other black accents and just a smidgon of silver (very little).  The local weather here in Charleston is a washout today so perhaps I can devote most of the day to this project.

As to thet hand cannon, almost makes me want to take up handgun hunting again.  The new S&W .500 and the Ruger in .480 just came along a few years to late for my hunting days but sure are intrigueing to me.  I have stated several times that if Ruger would just come out with a new single action frame size for their newer .480 cartridge I would start shooting sillywet again, just as an excuse to buy one.  HMMM, .480 with black powder, sounds like a weener to me!!!!

Howdy Pards:

Thanks for the kind words.

Slim...the barrel length is 12"

Slowhand....if I remember correctly that color is Fiebings "British Tan".

The funny thing was that in order for the owner to use a tie down  I had to install it half way down the skirt in order to keep the tie down above his knee.

Kinda puts me in mind of Yosemite Sam, with his cavalry saber dragging on the ground. Folks like that are why I'm growin' a longer mustache. I can bit down on it 'til it hurts, and possibly keep from laughing!

Hello Outrider,

Beautiful workmanship and great design!

He will be proud to wear that rig.

That IS nice work Outrider, I'm just wonderin' why it needs a hammer thong.  Seems ta me, with that barrel, it would take a good half hour to slide out'a the holster if'in the fella' was standin' on his head.

Thanks much for the compliment.  I pointed that out to the customer..but he wanted a thong for the hammer.soooo  What was really funny was that he was a very short fellow and the end of the holster hung almost to the center of his lower leg.  The tie down had to be installed about half way up the skirt in order for it to be above his knee.

That dye color is beautiful. It's very similar to a shade I was able to achieve using Fiebrings Mahogany/Light Tan and some Reducer mixed together. The color came out beautifully. Once I get a chance to smooth out the edges of the holster and skirt and dye them I'll post pictures of my 1st attempt at a gun rig.

Again, beautiful holster. The lining color really sets off the color of the holster wonderfully. Reminds me I need to pick up some more suede in a variety of colors  :)
See me takin' shots at the bar like I'm bullet-proof.

Howdy Seth:

Thanks much for the kind words.  Actually, the color was not Mahagony, it is several coats of Fiebrings BritishTan.  However, I know what you mean about the Mahagony..it is my favorite color and I have done numerous projects using it.
