seeings as I needed her help to move just the barrel, it isn't hidable no more.

This one's gunna be a later style naval carronade ... "aka" pirate ship gun.
So far, it sorta looks like this:

I'm pretty sure it will punch thru 24+ inches of solid oak

Projectiles are pool ball sized 2# balls of lead. Powder charge will max out at 4 ounces of Cannon grade behind the ball, or 4ounces of 1F for blanks (I love the forth of July

That's one cool piece of armament, nice job.  How far did she back up upon ignition?

After months of making parts, I just put it together yesterday. There are still a few parts that need finishing and installing, but it was close enough to shoot a few blanks.

Being blanks, it did not move at all. The whole thing weighs about 500#, so it would take quite a bit to get it to move. In a coupla weeks I'll try a 2# lead ball and I expect it to move a foot or two then.
