Aftur ya sneeek a cannon barrel in the door, . . . where do ya hide it ? . . in the closet ? . . what sort of a cannon are ya buildin' ? . ? . ? ? ? . . .
Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

seeings as I needed her help to move just the barrel, it isn't hidable no more.

This one's gunna be a later style naval carronade ... "aka" pirate ship gun.
So far, it sorta looks like this:

Goex powder can behind it for size reference

I suppose that'll make a steel target ring.  ;D

yes, it will make a ring in a steel target.

O wait... that's not what you said, was it?   ;)

I'm pretty sure it will punch thru 24+ inches of solid oak

Projectiles are pool ball sized 2# balls of lead. Powder charge will max out at 4 ounces of Cannon grade behind the ball, or 4ounces of 1F for blanks (I love the forth of July  8)

You can make and sell steel bowls. ;D

www.midwayusa.com/  sells the Uberti '58 Remington cylinders I believe. I know they sell all of the R&D conversion cylinders.

Yeehaw  ...  or should I say - Shiver me timbers Cap'n thar she blows ...

That's one cool piece of armament, nice job.  How far did she back up upon ignition?

After months of making parts, I just put it together yesterday. There are still a few parts that need finishing and installing, but it was close enough to shoot a few blanks.

Being blanks, it did not move at all. The whole thing weighs about 500#, so it would take quite a bit to get it to move. In a coupla weeks I'll try a 2# lead ball and I expect it to move a foot or two then.
