yes, down at Hot Springs.  they have the races and some casino machines both down there.
We done it for Dixie,  nothing else

I've been by the track a bunch of times, but I never watched a horse race there.

they have good turn out down there for the races,  they start the last week in  Jan. I think.,  don't remember how long it goes.

we used to have races over at Sallisaw too.  Blue Ribbon Downs,  Cherokees  bought Blue Ribbon Downs and took the race days to Will Rogers Downs up at Claremore so they can have a longer race season up there.

That one was Blue Ribbon Downs,  it's been there for a lot of years.  when they got pari mutuel bettin, they had that one and one in OKC, Remington Park.

now the Cherokee have the track up at Claremore,  Will Rogers Downs,  and bought Blue Ribbons Downs and moved all their race days up to Claremore,  they don't race over at Sallisaw right now.

That Lone Star Park is only about a mile north of the house. We can see the lights from the track at night. I've never been to a race up there. I think that the season starts in April.

Papa Clem won the Arkansas Derby but didn't seem like anybody was too impressed at the time

saw a thing on TV about  General Quarters and his owner,  80 some years old, first time he's had a horse fit for the Derby. he seems to think this is the one. ;)

One thing about today's race, It may even the playing field for all the horses.  The ones that run good in the mud may have a slight advantage.
