I quite believe you Dr Bob.
I consider NCOWS as different from SASS as a Stock 1866 rifle vs an action job 1866 with an aluminum elevator. Both work, both meet the needs of the owner, but one attempts to realistically portray what the original may have worked like, while the other will assist the owner to be as fast as possible. I like Powder Creek for it's camaraderie.
I also see the KVC and NCOWS meet my other desire of historical accuracy.
That is why I look forward to finally attend my first NCOWS event. It will be as an observer, I want to use my observations and video to assist in my continued creation of a portral of my Great-Great Grandfather in Kansas about 1880. I will be nosy, and taking detail to make sure I have my understanding of the Tally book and the covenants of just appropriate behaviour.
Cheers
