The shoe store I posted last week from 1886 in West Union, Custer County Nebraska has two other views, in these they seem to have moved folks around as to who got their picture taken.

Here is another interesting shot.

Picture 13130, type that # into the search for a better larger view.

Interesting if you look it over well on full enhancement, any comments? ;)

And in an 1886-dated photo, too...

How 'bout that?

Aaaahhh, fond memories of March 2006 discussions of hats creases.

Anyone at all interested go back to '1880 Stetson' topic (10 pages) or 'Research original photo's' topic (5-6 pages).  Same photo in both.

Not 1990's - but 1886...

Yep, the 'Cattleman Crease" with high swooped sides, the infamous "Rodeo Hat."  Often rumored to be a modern style, notice it does not have the squared 'press and shape" in the front like most of the younger folks wear today, but the rounded front is still very much alive.  This had is not an accident of handling, but of that has been shaped by someone with some hat shaping skills, either at a factory or by someone later from an open flat. to bad they made a period incorrect hat. ;)

We deal with a time period far more complicated than many realize, far more items than any one person can get a full handle on.

OH, Boy!

I'm gonna haf ta dust off a Gus Crease hat.   :o   First, a Cattleman/Rodeo crease, then, (perhaps) Gus.  This proves ...... nothing.  Only that very little is really new!  ;D
