I'm using one of those new caseless Ruger revolvers. The kind where you put the powder directly into the cylinder. It's really cut the time I spend at the loading bench.  :D

Well let's see, I got my first Ruger, a 1022 in 1970, so that would be 37 years ago. A friend slicked it up for me and added an extended mag release and a quick bolt release. Then we went plinking. Targets were old ammo boxes, soda cans, etc. We hung a couple of cans off a tree limb with twine. After shooting for a while, and never missing these big targets, I called my shot on the twine holding the left can. At 50 yds, prone, with a sling and a 4-7 power scope, I cut the twine, first try. My buddy dared me to do it again. BANG, cut the other twine. I was happy.

I plinked and hunted off and on for the next 35 years. Didn't get into SASS until two years ago. Sure wish I has known about it sooner. Now I have two braces of Ruger Vaqueroes, .357Mag and ,45LC, and two braces of Blackhawks, .357Mag and .44Mag. I mostly shoot the .357 Blachhawks which are both 50th Aniv.Flattops, in Modern Class.

A couple of the Vaqueroes didn't group as well as I would like, so I put Belk Mountain base pins in all four. That and a "poor mans trigger job" is all I've had to do to them. Now, with a Single Six Buntline .22LR, I have nine Ruger SAA revolvers, four 1022's, a standard carbine, a 1022 Magnum, a Ruger Race Rifle and a Mannlicher. Throw in a Deerfield .44 Mag carbine, an M77 Mk II bull barrel .223, and a MK II .22LR pistol with a bull barrel, a Timmeny trigger group, a comp, and an Olympic style grip, and that makes 16 Rugers. And I love every one of them. Oh yeah, in 37 years, I've done some trickin' & slickin', here and there, but NOTHING HAS EVER BROKEN !!!

rickk

a government model 22 auto, an old army, an sp101 revolver, a 44 redhawk, a 44 super redhawk, three 357 security 6's, a 44 Vaquero, and a 357 blackhawk.

The blackhawk I bought used about 20+ years ago. It was really slicked up and polished when I got it... awesome gun. Last year the end of the spring that makes loading gate stay closed broke. It cost me something like $3 for a new one.

That's it for my Ruger repair expenses.

The only thing I've ever broken on a Ruger has been my heart. That happened after I sold one. From the .44 Mag Stainless single-action to the Mini-14, I've loved them all. Trouble is, I was younger and dummer and didn't have the money to keep body and soul together and the guns, too. I've changed my ways, though, and don't plan on selling anything if I can help it.  ;D

I bought my first Ruger, a single six .22 caliber 4 1/2 inch barrel in January of '05. Since then I've acquired two OM SS Vaqueros, a Bisley model (blued), a NM Blackhawk (blued) all on .45 caliber L.C. and all with 5 1/2 inch barrels except the Bisley which is 4 1/2" I also have in my posession a 10/22 magazine fed rifle.
The only problem I had was with the NM Blackhawk. The first time I fired it the ejector rod, spring and screw holding it in place all fell from the gun. Turns out the screw hole had been drilled but not tapped and the retaining screw just jammed into the hole (factory flaw) had the hole tapped by my resident gunsmith and have had no truble with the NM Blackhawk since. Never had any type of trouble with the others in my arsenal.
Point of fact. I like Rugers sooo much that I am comtemplating adding another by the end of the year if I ain't swept away by a hurricane.

I've been shooting Rugers for over 20 years, and the only parts I have ever had to replace were those stupid "Safety" upgrade parts that allow you to carry 6 rounds in your 3 screws. any 3 screw I own will have the original parts put back in it. They just don't feel the same otherwise ;)

Bought a 9.5" Super Redhawk when I turned 21. I now have (3) 10/22's ( 1 converted to 17M2), (2) 44 Vaqueros, (2) Single-Sixes, and a M77 in 22-250. I still want a Mark II, Mark III Hunter, a Red Label, a Number 1, and a 44 carbine so I'm far from done

Isom back again. Got nostalgic and forgot to finish up. Used those 2 in my other post until 1995 and then"SASS" happened, got 9 more. I've "replaced" stuff,,,springs, grips, buggered screws, but nothing has ever broken.

I own quite a few Rugers and shoot them all regularly.  They have been very reliable for the most part.  The troubles that I have had have been minor.  I have a Super Blackhawk that lost an ejector rod housing the first time I fired it due to a fractured retaining screw.  A Single Six broke a transfer bar on me once.  The 10/22 must have been a lemon, couldn't group worth a darn and didn't feed quite right even with factory mags.  I eventually replaced the barrel with a Butler Creek unit and installed a Volquartzen trigger group, now it's a very reliable tack driver.

I always lean towards recommending Rugers to new shooters and folks who want a reliable firearm.  I can't say enough good things about them.

I bought my first Ruger in '64 - a Single Six convertible.  In '70 I bought a .357 Blackhawk convertible.  Two years later, I bought a .44 Mag Super Blackhawk.  Of those original 3 screws, i still have the Single Six and the Super Blackhawk.  In 2005, I discovered CAS and bought 2 .45 stainless New Vaqueros.  One kept breaking transfer bars, so I bought a backup.  Meanwhile, I informed Ruger of my problem and they replaced the problem gun.  Only trouble was, the replacement had no writing on the side of the barrel and the other two did.  What was a guy to do?  Yeah, I bought a fourth one without writing on the side of the barrel.  So now I have two sets of 5 1/2" stainless in .45.  Total Rugers at present - 6, but I am looking for another 3 screw Single Six nad Super Blackhawk.

My first Ruger was a Mk1 200th Year of Liberty Model 22LR pistol with bull barrel. Followed by a No1 1B in 220Swift bought in the mid 80s, then a 45ACP auto, followed by a Mk1177 in 220Swift (308 rebarrelled), followed by a Vaquero in 44mag, NMSBH in 44 mag, 2x Blackhawk 45 convertibles , a Mk11 in 300WM, now 2x new model 45 vaqueros (the 44mag old Vaq is getting traded on these) and finally a No1 Tropical in 416Rigby. Oh, I forgot an old 44Mag SBH with 10 inch Bbl (not a flattop unfortunately).

The Rugers I have used were all good, never missed a beat. I intend to sell one of the convertibles, don't need two now that I have the NM Vaqs.

I forgot I had a stainless Mini14 many years ago and used Mini 14s at work in the jail system for over 22 years (they use the 40S&W popgun at the moment).

Mick.

I forgot to mention, when I was picking up the 416, I saw a 338WM no1 that I couldn't resist, so I bought it home as well.
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!

First Ruger was a 10/22 back in the 80's sometime. Put a ton of rounds through that before sellling it to a friend and then bought it back a few years later, it still is with me and no broken parts to speak of.

And now I add an OM Vaquero to the stable, 45LC with a 5.5 inch barrel.

Have my sights set on my next Ruger.  ;)

Well now......my first Ruger was a M77 (30-06) purchased in the spring of 1971. Since that time I have gone through four or five mini-14s.  On was a beautiful GM model purchased from a game warden.  The the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia decided it was an assautl rifle and had to be registered or sold out of state........I sold it.........now we have four MK 11 pistols, three single sixes w/dual cylinders, a single six in .32 mag., a NM Blackhawk in .45 colt, two Vaqueros in .45 colt, two 10-22s.....one  L.R. and one Mag.,and one .44 cal. semi auto carbine..................oh, also have a M77 Mk11 in .223.   I think thats it...............so I have been shooting them for 36 years or so.  NOTHING has BROKEN on any of the.  Several have been tuned up a bit......but no down time!!

OOOOPPSSS!!  I forgot one......just purchased a NM Vaquero in .357 ( to be converted into a cowboy caliber beginning with a 4!! Anyway....gun locks up on one cylinder.   It will cock through several chambers......then you cannot cock on next chamber.  You can force it with BOTH thumbs.....the it will cock through five chambers.....the if locks up again.  Ruger has sent me a replacement cylinder latch spring (?) but have not installed it yet.

ONLY Ruger snag I have ever had!!
