It really depends on the mood the night before. For pistols it's a choice of a brace of SS RV's in 357, or a brace of Navy Arms Schofields with 45 Schofield, or a Taylors Cattleman and a Cimarron Thunderer with 45 Colt. With the RV's I shoot a Navy Arms 92 in 357, the Schofields get paired with either a 73 short rifle or a Henry both in 44-40, and the SA's get matched with a Marlin CB in 45 Colt. The above gets backed up by either a New London Arms SxS or a 97 both in 12 ga. I will probably never be the first one to the finish line, but I do have fun getting there.

Right now I'm shooting .357s in RV SS 5 1/2 and Marlin 94 Cowboy. My Rossi SxS 12 guage Coach gun although 15 years old has less than 200 shells fired.. :)

I'm working on a .45LC setup and have a 1866 Sporting Rifle w/24" oct bbl. Trying to decide if I'm getting a pair of clones (Rodeo or Stampede) or most likely a pair of 1875 Remmingtons.

What ya think... clones or Remmingtons?? ;D

Kid,

I think if it were me, I would choose the Stampedes over the Rodeos just based on the fininsh. I have seen both and I just really like the fininsh of the Stampedes. But if you are looking for
more "Coolness" points then the  Remingtons would definately be the way to go!!!!

A pair of consecutive serials numbered Ruger Bisley Vaqueros in 45 Colt.  The pistols were not bought together and were actually bought about 8 months apart from 2 different gun shops.  Talk about luck. ;D

Along with the pistols, I use a Marlin 94 Cwby in 45 Colt and a Winchester 1897, manufactured in 1911, in 16 ga.

As backups I keep a Win 92 in 44-40 and a Baikal SxS in 12 ga.  Working now in C&B as I picked up a Colt Blackpowder 1860 and 1851.

My main shooters are 4 Vaqueros.  A matched pair in stainless, with 7.5 inch barrels and real stag horn grips.  "Back-up" Vaqs are a 5.5 inch blue/cc Bisley Vaquero with white pearlite grips and a stainless 3.75 inch Bird's Head Vaq. with ebony wood grips.  Companion rifle is a Rossi 92/65.  All are in caliber 45 Colt.

Also sometimes shoot a pair of Colt clones in Caliber 44-40.  Both are blue/cc.  One has 7.5 inch barrel while the other is a 3 inch ejectorless Sheriff's model.  Companion rifle is a Uberti made 1866 "Yellow Boy" with 24 inch octagon barrel.

Also have a pair of Remington clones.  An EMF Outlaw model 1875 and a cartridge converted 1858.  Both 45s also.

My one NA Schoefield is also a 7 incher in 45 Colt caliber.

My shotgun is a Stoeger Coachgun in 20 guage.

I won't even get into the cap-n-ball stuff.   :o

A pair of Ruger Birdsheads in .45, a Cody Matic '73 in .45 and a 97 Winchester slicked up before I got it so I have no idea who did the work.

I also have a pair of AWA Longhorns in .38 but I haven't shot them at a match yet.

??? Another question!  I am scratchin my head as I am under the delusion that the Shotgun has to have exposed hammers.  but looking at the Stoeger Coachgun it does not show these exposed hammers, hmmm? What am I amissin'?  thanks to whichever Pard can straighten my thinkin out ;D.

Nope, SxSs don't need hammers except for the SASS class "Classic"

Pumps need hammers ;)

There were many hammerless shotguns prior to 1899 and many of them had ejectors (of course SASS doesn't allow ejectors but NCOWS does) ;D

Well, another few months have snuck past since this thread opened, so, naturally, the stuff livin' in my holsters/scabbards has changed a bit.

The (.38-40) AWA Ultimate '73's are now my backup pistolas, while my new pair of US Firearms SAA's in .38-40 (4 3/4" bbls) have moved up a notch.  Still using the AWA Lightning (.38-40) and alternating with my Cimarron '73 Border Rifle (also in .38-40)  My main shotgun is one of the TTN clones of the 1878 Colt SxS in 12 gauge.  This TTN mule-ear shoots to point of aim with BOTH barrels and both of the hammers come back with one sweep of my thumb.

I am new to SASS and am just getting my kit together. I was wondering what ya all are packing at these shoots. I have a brace of Ruger Vaqueros (one a Bisley Vaquero), both with 4-4/8" barrels. I also have an old Rossi Overland Coach gun (12ga). I am working on getting the money together to pick up a Cimarron model 73' in .44 special. I also just started getting my leather rig, I bought San Pedro Saddlery xdraw holster from another SASS shooter (Preacherman). I now need a strong side holster and belt to finish it off. What's in your holsters?

I pack a pair of Navy Arms .32-20 (please no salty comments about my caliber choice!); an original Winchester model 1892 also in .32-20; an original Colt Lightning in .32-20 and a Russian made Baikal 12 ga scattergun named "Mule".  My gun leather was made by a chap named Steve Catts in Maysel, WV

Irish Red O'Toole

A pair of Ruger Vaqueros, 5½" stainless steel in .45 Colt.  A Uberti 73 rifle, 24½" also in .45 Colt, short-stroked and smoothed by Bob Shaw at Walker '47.  My shotgun is a fourth generation Norinco 20".

I'm a newbie too and am still assembeling my kit...right now...guns are a pair of .45LC EMF, 4 3/4 bbl.  and a Rossi 92 also .45LC  Rossi is "tricked out" with springs and one of those "John Wayne" big loop levers, which doesn't save any time at a match but just looks cool...gun leather is El Paso Saddelry "Duke" outfit with two holsters..both strong side draw.  Shot gun changes..sometimes I use Grandpa's L.C. Smith 16 ga but getting ready to retire that and use it on bobwhites only, not sure what I will get next

Four-Eyed Buck

I've got three braces put together. Usually try to alternate between them. In .45Colt, I've got an EAA BBH 7 1/2", RV 5 1/2", a Marlin CB 24". In .38/.357, I've got an EAA BBH 4 1/2", a Cimarron SAA 5 1/2", and a Marlin CBC 20". In 38-40, I've got two EMF Hartfords/old style  frames in 4 3/4", and an original 1889 Marlin 24". For shotguns, I use a Stoeger 28" in 12ga and a TTN 1878 coachgun 12ga....................Buck 8) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

mesquitemike44

I carry 2 44special Cimarrron Black Powder Frame model P's shooting 44Colt.
For a rifle a Cimarron 1866 Yellowboy in 44special shooting 44Colt.
For a shotgun I shoot a 28" bbl rossi SxS 12 guage with external hammers.

Sisquoc

Ruger Vaqueros, blue, 5.5" barrels, chambered in .45LC.  Uberti '73, also blue, also chambered in .45LC, whatever the standard barrel length is.  Chi-Com Slave-labor (Norinco) replica of the '97, 12 gauge.  One Vaquero and the long guns were purchased from Walker '47.  Only changes I've made are "gunfighter" grips in buffalo horn and lighter springs on the two handguns.   ;D
