Need a Source for Period Saloon Music
« on: April 11, 2007, 10:33:36 AM »
Folks,

I have some friends that are coming into town for a shoot in May and we are going to be putting together a Poker night.  I would like to find some old time saloon music either via download or CD.  Would appreciate some help.

Thanks

Do a Google Search for Squeak Steele.  I used to sell her Saloon Piano CD, but our supplier dosn't carry it any more.  There are 2 CD's and were recorded on antique upright pianos in restored Saloons in Nevada.  The best of that type stuff I've ever heard.

Try "Saloon Piano"  Vols. 1, 2, and 3, by David Bourne.  I have them, or you can probably get them from James Country.

(Dave Bourne was the piano player in the Gem saloon in "Deadwood.")

Major Matt,

I downloaded a CD called Frontier Favorites: Old Time Muisc of the Wild West by Mark Gardner & Rex Rideout from iTunes.

You can also download some music from the Library of Congress. These are sections that might be of interest to you:

I'll second that choice!  I've got Vol 2 and will be ordering the others.
