Did some testing with it last year, lR. Didn't really notice anything. I've got some in .45 Colt that I've got to run through the chrony. when i do, I'll have to try and remember to use my nose. Compared to the sulfer and brimstone of BP, I'd think that it wouldn't seem to smell at all ;D.......................Buck 8) ::) ;)

Quote from: litl rooster on April 20, 2007, 03:31:15 AMI need to clean my Blue machine and load the same 2 things together.   I discovered last night that .44's will work in the .45 shell plate  ;D
My primer feed wouldn't work right. I've put in new parts and it still acted up. Last night, I got out my gunsmithing stones and started in on the slide and the housing. After a couple hours, I finally got things relieved enough so the slide would work most of the time. Then I put dry lube on it and was in business. The problem was that the slide had a wide spot in it and the housing was stretched out where the helicoil threads for the mounting screws were. That wide spot would bind up on the narrow spots. I haven't checked it today, but if it still acts up, I'll take the stones to it again.

I'll let you know. I don't have time to really work up a good load before our yearly match, but I will certainly get to test them out some.

Youi didn't know this?  Sorry that we never talked about it.  I discovered that the first time I tried to reload the 44-40s.  I have never changed it when going back & forth between the 44-40 & 45LC.

I was talking .44 Mags and .44 Russian's Since they sell a plate for .44-40 I made a ass of u and me and never tried .44wcf's. I ended up with a bunch of .44 Rem mag and .44 spl after Roundup, I thought I had them all sorted off, apparently I missed one. Since my dies were set for .45's the bullet looked funny. I then decided to see if the others fit.  Now I will have to go try the .44-40's

The Memorial Service was packed, maybe 200 folks.  Many folks from the business and of course family and friends.

Will a couple of weeks ago I had to change the little leaf spring and the (wasbrass) point that stop the primers from falling out.  It was dumping the whole tube full, I believe I just need to dissassemble it clean it and use a dry lube on it. It is tending to get a rough and hard to work. I'll measure up the primer slide when I do this and see what it looks like

Check the inside for bulging along the bolt holes. Mine was starting to bulge out, especially when I'd snug the bolts. Lay a straight edge along it and see what it looks like. I suspect the issue with mine was more that than the slide, although both made a difference. Maybe the threads push the housing out some over time.

well we had another nice day today, up to about 75, with a south breeze, we got done with all the rings in the houses this morning, this afternoon we had to go to Russellville and pick up some stuff for the poultry houses,
we were buzzing along down I-40 bout 75 MPH, just crusing,  heard the rear tire blow out, don't know if we ran over something or what happened, it's a 10 ply tire, we had to get on past the guard rail  to pull over,
gonna havta get some new tread sooner than we thought.
