hope they'll be good ones, when we were growing for Con-agra, we got used to birds that were'nt up to par as far as good birds go, this new company has changed a lot of things and made some good iimprovements,
better & healither birds sure does make it a lot easier to grow birds

There isn't but one Frankenbird, and as far as I know, he hasn't spawned.

All this talk about food is makin' me hongry. I need to go see what the freezer has to offer...

well yer out there in NC, I'll have to get the address of Sleepy Creek and you can sneak out there and see what's going on. ya might even be able to hop the truck coming this way, course ya'll have to bring yer coat, they keep them trucks kinda cool.

Buck, we've got a couple in our freezer, we try to keep some on hand

Bride Update!Chrissie had her visit with the doc and they discussed all of her test results. Her heart has irregular beats in the auricles. Therefore, though it is an issue, it is not life threatening. Were the irregular beats in the ventricles, they'd take more drastic and immediate action. Also noted, was all the irregular beats occured during work. When all other tests came out normal, he has concluded her SVT is stress induced. He was adamant to say it was NOT in her head. The symptoms are REAL. The upside is there is now a baseline for heart. Especially with her family history.

Treatments include, exercize, delegation of unecessary tasks and just relaxing. I've mentioned for years she needs to unplug now it is Doctors orders.

He wants to see her again in 5 months and she will wear a monitor again to check on her progress. Then, if needed, they may try drugs to help her relax.

Interestin' readin' on the 'Frankenbirds'. OT, 'member ya sayin' sumthin' while ya were with Con-Agra 'bout a survival rate, if that's the right term. Smithfield have the same sort of goal in mind with the Sleepy Creek birds?

Arcey, when Smithfield took over, last Sept, they went in partners with Carolina turkeys on Butterball, Carolina turkey had been growing, but had never packaged a whole turkey, they always cut em up and used em for parts for Deli, and further processing, which means turkey bacon, turkey ham, and such, they have had a good liveability in their birds for years, but their hatcheries had never produced the number of eggs needed to keep all of our farms here full of birds.
so the first thing they did was send in their vets and hatcheries experts to the hatcheries we were getting birds from, to see what the problem was and why we were losing up to 10% of the birds in the first 10 days they were on the farm,
turned out the hatcheries were having the problems start in the hatcheries, so Smithfield told em clean the hatcheries up and get rid of the problems or Smithfield was gonna build thier own. In the last few months our birds have improved 100%, they are still not up to the Sleepy Creek birds, but so much better than they were,
the Sleepy creek birds usually in the 13 weeks we keep them have a mortality rate of less than 2% of the total, so you get to sell a lot more birds,
we're all a lot happier with Smithfield/Carolina Turkey here, at least you can see they are trying to improve things.

Glad to hear your wife is ok Stoney. I'm sure many of us know how easy it is to let stress on the job get to us. I've started to go to the gym at lunch. It's good for me and I get out of the office.

Got new duel pane windows in the house yesterday. Got a nice clear view of the storm rollin in this morning, but at least they are supposed to keep the house warm now.
