I just got the following via email. I got on their email list somehow. It keeps me abreast with what they are up to.

Yesterday, we witnessed America's worst mass shooting on the campus of Virginia Tech. Thirty-three students and faculty were killed, including the gunman. At least fifteen more were wounded.

How many deaths and injuries must we endure before our nation's elected officials act to end gun violence? We must ask our leaders: "What are you going to do about it?" What are you going to do to make our schools, workplaces, and communities safe from gun violence?

President George W. Bush said yesterday that schools should be a place of "safety and sanctuary for every student," but he and other national leaders do nothing to ensure that safety. They provide condolences, and then do nothing to stop future tragedies.

Eight years ago this week, we watched in horror as students at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado fled a mass shooting. Twelve students and one teacher were killed. Just seven months ago, five girls were gunned down in a school in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

These aren't isolated incidents. February 12, 2007, Salt Lake City: A teen opens fire in a mall killing five and wounding four. On the same day in Philadelphia: Three men fatally shot and a fourth wounded at a board meeting. January 11, 2007, Indianapolis: A man shoots four fellow employees. The list goes on and on.

There are common threads in all of these tragedies — it is much too easy for the wrong people to get high-powered, deadly weapons and our leaders fail to do anything about the problem.

It is urgent that you email or call your elected officials today.
They must hear that you want action to keep guns out of the wrong hands.

Please make as many of these phone calls as you can:

The message for all three calls is simple:

    It is much too easy for the wrong people to get deadly weapons in this country. It is time for you to take steps to end gun violence to prevent tragedies like the one at Virginia Tech.

The Brady Campaign is working nonstop to get the message out that there are solutions to gun violence. We can ban military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips that make it so easy to kill quickly . . . we can require Brady background checks for all gun sales, including at gun shows . . . we can stop large-volume gun sales that supply illegal gun traffickers. These are just some of the steps we can take to make it harder for the wrong people to get guns.

I've never heard it called anything but April vacation.  It just the one week 16th-20th and it happend a week after Easter.  Now Christmas vacation is affiiliated with the Holiday and is still refered to as Christmas Vacation.  At least around here.

I quite proud of my wife.  She went on rant about the renewed cries for gun control.  She quite annoyed that people just don't get it.  See my responce to her blog below.  (I've added new emphasis to parts of mine)

What happened in Virginia is certainly a tragedy, people killed by some psycopath who can't deal with some pathetic issues he has, but just like everytime something like this happens, people's 2nd amendment rights are endangered.And let me remind you, it is a God given RIGHT, that the founding fathers forced the Government to recognize.  It is not a priviledge they can take way becuase it is politically correct! Are there actually people in this world who think that getting rid of all guns is going to keep people from killing each other? Say that happens somehow, all the guns everywhere are ALL gone. Hmmmm...how would people do it then? Kitchen knives? Mow people down with cars? Both have something in common with firearms, they are a tool that can't do any harm without a person behind it! So what's the solution? Not sure, but it's sure not more gun control...bad people are going to get them, no matter what! Has anyone noticed that it's not John Smith who went to the police station to fill out an application to carry a firearm and is a law abiding citizen? No, it's usually some bent out of shape weirdo who steals it from John Smith and decides to take people out in their day to day lives.

They banned guns in England.  Yet murder still occurs.  Rape and assault have climbed through the roof since they banned guns.

Yet it gets worse.  In their own word "the criminals due to lack of guns have started using knives".  So they have now banned pocket knives in England and have set limits on the size of kitchen knives.  Where does it end.

The Brady Campain has wasted no time using the blood of innocent victims as a means to strip other innocent law abiding citizens of their private property.

I ask the question.  When the Muslem in the news ran people over with his SUV, where was the out cry for banning SUV's?  Obviously these vehicles gotta go because they can kill people.

People don't realize that the United States Supreme Court has stated that the police have absolutely no obligation to protect you.  That's right people.  Their job is collect evidence AFTER THE FACT and to arrest the bad guy.  In fact the court has also stated the police are under no obligation to enforce a restraining order.  So go ahead and get one.  The person can do what ever they want and the police will put you corpse in a body bag and THEN put the criminal in jail.

The sheeple of the United States will one day in the near future wake up an realize they are no longer citizens, but subjects to whims of government.  Only problem is they will have given up all means to make any change.  Read from our Declaration of Independance, emphasis added by me.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

That is why our founding father put the second amendment into the Constitution.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. "

This is private citizens, with their private arms coming to the aide of their country or againt the now corrupt ruling government.

The second ammendment is not about hunting or sport shooting.  It is about my ability to arm myself from ANY attack to my pursuit of happiness.  Foreign or Domestic.

Just got back from the dentist getting' somethin' redone what got done last month.  Hope I ain't gottah re-do it again next month.  Them jawbreaks always tell ya 'this might be a l'il uncomfortable' – damned if they ain't correct – without the 'l'il' part.

The gun grabbers ain't never gonna stop.  I doubt they'll get anything out of this terrible situation at VT as far as the guns go but they'll be goin' after 'clips' as the media reports them.  Those, they may get.

That's all I'll be buyin' at the next show if I don't order a mess off the net before then.
