Actually, Sarge, it's a .44 mag that I will be shooting .44 Russians in.

And, BTW, I have since replaced the faux ivories in this photo with a custom set of white bone grips. I need to get a new shot with the new grips. I really like the way they look.

Here are my Rugers:

Ruger Vaquero, Gunslinger Action job by Lee's Gunsmithing and serrated the front sight installed a stronger base pin latch nut, and free spin pawled it; I installed a Belt Mountain base pin, a Dave Clements crescent ejector rod, a SBH hammer after modifying the width, ( a little smaller yet still kept the contour = 8 hours work by hand)and corrected the timming with a hammer plunger modification. All I need to do now is open the throats to .4525 and shoot, shoot shoot! ;D

Those are black Gabboon Ebony Gunfighter grips too from Cary C. but my buddy decided to spin my revolver and luckily it hit the floor on the edge of the grips which cracked them both, yes luckily because they took the force instead of my frame, thank goodness.

Here are the new grips:

I need to update pics as they do not reflect all that has been done, ..... crescent ejector rod, SBH.

Ruger GP100 - 6" Stainless Steel

Bowen Rear Sight, now has a Millet orange front sight and I refinished the grips - not shown.

Irish;  Silver Creek Slim sent me a note that you had cut an old model Ruger into a Sheriff's model, and you sure did! Man that looks Great! Does the front of the frame have enough steel under the ejector housing cutout or did you have to build it up? Did you recontour the frame with a milling machine or is this all hand work? I've been a machinist for Owens Corning for 32 years, and already have 5 Stainless Vaqueros so will be hacking away on one of my own soon. Thanks for any light you can shed and thanks to Silver Creek Slim for the heads up.  ;D

Irish Dave

Much obliged, Wakatomika Creek and thanks for the kind words.

1) The frame beneath the ejector rod housing bolster is slightly thinner than the rest of what surrounds the barrel. Still, I did not build it up as it appears thick enough to remain safe and stable. I also had an expert gunsmith mill and mount the front sight and he made no mention of it being too thin. I was very careful not to remove any more material in that area than was absolutely necessary to recontour the frame. I think a person could get carried away and remove too much material fairly easily if they weren't conscious of this situation. This is the second RV I've so modified. The first is a .45LC version. I have shot the .45 quite a bit and have seen no indication of stessing at all. Then again, I'm using these only for cowboy (Colt or clone) type loads -- mid-pressure .45s and will be shooting .44 Russians in this one. If I had intended to shoot excessive pressure, full-house, cannon rounds in these,  I might have thought more about building up the frame.

2) It's all hand work using a Dremel, files, stones and abrasives.

Hopse this helps and good luck on cutting yours. If you have any other questions, just post'em here or PM me.
