I have an original 56/52 carbine.Am curious if anyone has seen the markings on one somewhere. On the reciever just behind the barrel stenceled in deeply is either     I.C or 1.C. . Carbine fires good, is in failrly good shape. It also appears to have two marks cut into the stock. Almost like a count being kept. Everybody from the family this carbine was found in is now passed away. It was found in pieces with a box of original 56/52 ammunition with all the grease groves exposed. I had a mold and cases make off one of the original rounds and it works good for me. Thanks for any information that might turn up.   hendrick

Hi Hendrick,

How about a serial # for your original Spencer carbine.  That might be a starting point in determining what the IC stands for...maybe?
