Did I ever tell you folks that me an' Trinity...my little brother...came from a very botanical family?

Pa's name was Weed, Ma was Rose, our twin sisters was Ivy and Iris, I was a budding genius, an' Trinity was a bloomin' idiot.  Now it looks like were all goin' to seed an are puttin' down roots, an' I'm losin' a lot of "foliage".

Had an uncle who was a naturalist an' a vegetarian.  Ate nuthin' but leaves and stalks, berries an' nuts, grasses an' grains.  Died just after his thirty-second birthday of a ragin' dose of Dutch elm disease.  His wife ate a lot of what he did, but she didn't get the same thing.  Had a bad case of borer beetles once, though.

You didn't happen to live in Grass Valley over on Chestnut Street, did you? You must have gotten stumped and had to leave there to branch out a little. Well, stick to it, pard. Shoot, I hear the dogs barking, gotta go. Don't be a sap. See ya next time you log on.

I had a girlfriend once who was a farmer's daughter. She wrote me a John Deere letter.

Got a friend, collage guy, teaches down to Doane in Crete, got one of the PHD's (not post hole digger) he says the two types of trees ain't connie-fur and dee-sid-you-us like it says in the books, but the tree kingdom is divided into "the kind that make good gunstocks and the kind that are fit only for firewood."  Pretty smart for a collage pro-fesser.

I bet that is that yaller pine I got into down in south-east Kansas, not real bad in a campfire, middle grade for dutch oven cooking, but damn it was heck getting everything clean after that, yah, it's fire wood, just not indoor type, Dr. Georgie's theroy is still intact.  (BTW he had over 6000 rifles last time I checked, mostly military in a lot of odd vesrions, SP would like him.)  He also does some language editing for Hornaday manuals, good fella for a PHD. ;)

Did I hurt Trinity's feelins?

That kid always did have sorta thin bark.  I guess I'll get back what I sow.  I may have to start weeding out the sarcastic comments.  Leafing through some of my posts reminds me that some people might not have any semblence of a sense of humor. I ain't gonna worry about my little bro, though.  Our roots are deeper and stronger than this.  We even come from a strong branch of the family, even if some limbs had too many nooses on them and there was some premature pruning from time to time...and some infortunate splicing (Uncle Bud) which resulted in some really strange hybrids (Cousin Annie Earl).

All kinds of forks on his side.

Dinner forks, cooking forks, salad forks, desert forks, pickle forks, barbeque forks, tuning forks, motorcycle forks, bicycle forks, one unicycle fork, hay forks, silage forks, pitch forks, potato forks, forks, in the trail, Twin Forks, Three Forks, Five Forks, American Fork, Spanish Fork, Temple Fork, beet forks, fork lifts, Madison Forks, hors d'oevre forks, wrong forks, right forks, left forks, forks in the road, suspension forks, and even some forked tongues.

There's all kinds of forks on his side of the tree.  Dinner fork seems to dominate, though.

Spence came up with a sliver of humor.  At least he's not a knot head.  Good to have some new folks around...like kindling for a new fire.  Sure wood like to see him stick around.
