Started with 45s (and the Old Army Rugers with conversion cylinders are still a lot of fun especially with the BP rounds - don't gum up much).
The new vaquero and 50th aniversary blackhawks in 357 are very easy for me to handle with one hand.
However, I got a blackhawk 50th 44 magnum and put 44 special through it and the thing is a tack driver.  Too big for me to handle one handed.

Try a lot of different styles - I have put through rounds loaded with BP, 777, Pinnacle, TrailBoss and factory smokeless.  The tight tolerances on the 50th anniversary Rugers got them binding up after a few cylinders full.

Since I practice at an indoor range that does not allow BP or subs the Trailboss was nice, makes it easy to load and not much worry that you double charge a round - the stuff is so bulky that if you try it generally overflows the case.  In the 45-70 the loadings are so fulll that the consistency of shots is very good.
