Black River Smith-

Thanks for taking the time to check those measurments.

Looks like my bullet ramp is in the middle, however, my extractor is taller than either your's or French Jacks, especially if compared to his first number.  With these numbers I will try and call Taylor's tomorrow and see if I can glean any enlightment!  I will let you all know what they say.

Whose               ramp                  extractor
yours                  .135                     .342
mine                   .147                     .366
French Jack         .150                  .345 -.360

As always, I appreciate you time and trouble.

David

CrazeyIvan,

Take a look at the 4th post by Steve of the 46th Ill. on this thread started by Tony S. over over at the N-SSA Forum.

Maybe Steve had the same problem that you have been experiencing.

Keep the faith,

Two Flints-

Thanks for the link.

Asked Steve about his problem.  Was a burr in the action that prevented any feeding.  Seems like a nice guy, responded very promptly.

I saw some correspondence between you and someone called "Hoot - 3rd Ga".  He was having trouble joining this site.  Did he ever make it?  If he is, is he here as Hoot?  Reason for asking is that during my search of their site I ran across a post by him that he was going to do a big article on Spencer loads.  I would definitely like to read it and it may be of help to others!

I've got to say one last thing.  Almost anything I went into over there (Spencer related) you had already been there (kind of the Kilroy of the Spencer site!).  You are one of the most active Moderators I've ever seen.  Your time and effort (and that of  a lot of the members) really makes this site something out of the ordinary (in a good way).

Thanks again,

David

David,

Use the search window at the top of the SSS home page and type in Hoots complete alias or find his name on one of the pages, click on it and it will take you to his profile, and you will be able to PM him.  I'm sure he will respond to your questions.  I don't think he ever posted his loading info, I'm still waiting for that.

Heck, here is his profile page link:

Two Flints-

Thanks for the information.  I did a PM and posted a question on the thread where he had made the reference.  Have not heard anything back as of yet.

Thanks,

David

Two Flints-

If you would, take a look at your PM's when you get a minute.

Thanks

David

Drydock

Looking thru this thread I see a lot of 1.6 to 1.7" OALs.  I use the modified Lee 515-500 mold cut down by Dakota Widowmaker in my Armi-Sport carbine. With the wide nose and relativly shallow ogive of this bullet, I load to an OAL of 1.540 to 1.550" and get smooth feeding with no nose damage.  Ya might try shortin' down them rounds a might.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

Crazeyiven

Sgt Drydock-

Thanks for the input.  Also saw your post on the OAL Project thread.  Thanks for both.

David
