Glad you are having good weather and a great time. I wish I could be there too.  FYI we (the Columbus Rifle Club, Columbus NE) are having a Buffalo Silhouette match on Sunday.  Rifle in the morning and hangun in the afternoon.  Anyone that isn't shooting at the Muster on Sunday is welcome to come over to Columbus and burn some gunpowder.  Check my post in the events section of PM me for more info.

Have a great shoot

What an Awesome day.  The weather was perfect.  I shot the Battle Rifle catagory today and my safety issues with the class have been relieved.  The course of firing was fun & challanging.  Now if only my Krag ammo was up to par.....  I had lots of rifle misses.  The working theory is because I was using a 165 grain bullet instead of a 210 grain round.  But, had a great time shooting it.  A big thanks to Jerry & Ned.

Results and photos will follow but give me a couple of days as my schedule will be (and has been) pretty hectic and I will need a couple of days to get everything put together in a form that's at least somewhat readable.

What a great time! All the clothes are in the washer, the cook gear is scoured and draining, and the guns are cleaned and oiled.

Thanks to Jerry, Dale and Stephan for all their hard work putting this together. We had very interesting scenarios and I learned a lot about the limitations of shooting out to 125 yards with my .38sp '66 :D :-X

We had a great tour of Ft. Hartsuff and took advantage of Jerry's considerable knowledge of the history of the fort and the surrounding country during the Indian Wars era. I was honored to participate in the lowering of the Fort Colors at sunset. We marched in formation across half the breadth of the Parade ground from the enlisted quarters, lowered the Colors and dressed them, then returned in marching order to present them to the Post Commander with Honors. It was very moving for me. I surely felt the eyes of many ghostly soldiers from all around the post as they stood to attention while we performed this duty.

The food was good, hot and plentiful. All that every frontier soldier hopes for ;) Thanks to Delmonico for coming out and single-handed taking on this task.

We were treated to evening entertainment by Stephan Baker's VERY talented family. Each member played an accoustic string instrument plus singing harmonies. And they were good!!  The stand-up bass fiddle player must have been all of eight or nine years old, standing on his hardtack crate set up behind his instrument so he could play up and down the neck and supplied that bass beat with precision.
The Post Captain generously opened up the gift shop for us, and I was impressed by the selection and degree of coverage of titles about the Frontier Army, History, Indian culture, cookbooks. . . .excellent offerings. I think we all found items to add to our libraries.

I enjoyed the campsite chosen for us at the range, and we had all prepared as well as we could for the cold. A little rain Friday evening, and lots of frost on the ground and the tents in the morning, but the days warmed up nicely and there was just enough wind to disperse the BP smoke. It's the camping I love almost more than the shooting.

I had an excellent time and so did everyone else.

Thanks to all who helped put this together. We all agreed that this should become an annual affair.

What a great weekend.  I don't think I can add anything else to further explain what a truly wonderful weekend it was in Nebraska.  The locals were the friendlist folks in the Midwest that I have come across.  The range was one of the best places that I have shot at.  The course of fire was challanging and fun.  The weather, superb....Jerry and Dale did one heck of a great job.  Look forward to going back sometime.

I have a lot more pictures to look over and up-load but here is a start, I have some from the range on Sunday, but here are some from the Fort on Saturday, with more to follow.

The Barracks I slept in.

Close up of the poured concrete construction done originally in 1874, the off color stuff up high is from the restoration.

Cosie set up round the corner by the kitchen a barber shop.  If it had been tourist season I would have not left the pickup and lemon aid jug in plain view. ;)  1 set of tourists all day yesterday.

Close up of the cook set up
.

The bunk I took over.

Lookin' down the row of bunks, you can see my hat on the one next to my bunk.

And the stove in the kitchen.
