Howdy to the camp,

According to Mcowell, all encountered New Model Army .44 conversions were thin plate.  The website the 1890 presentation is on (www.Jamesdjulia.com), however, has an original private conversion of a new Model Army 44 in .45 Colt that has the thick or heavy plate conversion plate with a loading gate just like the Taylor's Uberti 1858 Factory gated conversion in .45 Colt.

I would love to get my hands on that one!

I like it. The thick backing plate looks so cool. Thanks for the pic.
