St. George

And so I went to the NCOWS Convention in Council Bluffs...

A good assortment of vendors were on hand,  and a whole bunch of folks - both walk-ins and members - were busily enjoying what was on offer.

Available for sale were books, Old West clothing, leather - both in 'natural' form and as complete rigs - period firearms - pocket watches, as well as a myriad of other things.

A good time to re-connect with guys that are seldom seen out here on the Prairie and to visit with everyone.

Congratulations.

Sure....

Rub it in.  Would have loved to be there this weekend to shop goodies and see pards, but parenting duties required my attention.

St. George, it was great to see you again.  We just got home about a half hour ago.  We had a good time at the convention.

We got some work done.  I'll wait for others to give an official report.

St George-

It was good to finally meet you in person!

Will,

I got in about OK, but it was another experience NOT to be repeated.  My bag, however did manage to make it home with me - though it was a close thing as I nearly missed my connecting flight and wasn't sure if my bag made it or not.  After watching every other single bag come out of the chute, I'd about given up hope when along comes mine - the very last one.

Convention was great, but the trip to and from was surely not!

Good to see you again!

RCJ,

I read his STINKING BADGE that is pinned on his chest!  The Banker would be called the TREASURER in most organizations, &c,. &c., &c..!!!!!!!!  I certainly meant no disrespect.  Jack is the only officer that has not been called what is on the badge.  I did not check the BYLAWS to see what it really is.  I can barely see straight and am having real trouble making the fingers find the right keys.

Your most humble and obedient servant,

RCJ,

Well, you are RIGHT!! :-[ :-[  The title in the bylaws is Secretary and the description starts by saying Secretary & Historian.

I WAS WRONG!!!

But, I was just reading his officers badge.  We might spring for one with the correct title.[/color]

For those of you that were at the convention, it was great to see you. For those who wanted to be there and were unable to make it for various reasons, you were missed. It was a good one! Lots of great pards, lots of great stuff to look at. I know of at least 3 KVC folks who went home with a new gun. It was a much more relaxed and enjoyable convention than last year. and for the last one in Council Bluffs, was one to remember. For those who did anything to help over the last 3 years, Great job! I hope you are all looking foreward to KC,KS next year. Thanks again for the great times.    jt

I'd like to give a plug to the excellent seminars we had at the Convention.  I attended four: Buffalo Hunters, Detectives, Cowboy Hats and the Originals.  All were extremely informative and the instructors well prepared.

I can only assume the others that I didn't attend were of equally high quality.  I understand the gold panning was a lot of fun but having panned for gold in Alaska and Colorado, I decided to pass on it this time around.

I thought the dinner Saturday night was excellent.  Didn't win any of the door prizes, but given that I was flying I really didn't need to add anything more to my bags.

Best of all, I enjoyed meeting old friends - which is the real reason I attend the Convention.  There were some I missed, and many that I didn't get to spend as much time with as I'd have liked, and I'm sorry that I didn't try harder to rectify that situation.   Just too much going on as usual.

It was a GREAT convention. Both I and my wife had a GREAT time. I got to see many GREAT folks I only see about twice a year. It was a bit tense last year, but this year it seemed as if everyone was on the same page. Enjoying the common interest in 19th century firearms, shooting, and history. I really enjoyed the vendors. Really quality vendors, I - unfortunately - alone probably covered their travel expenses - but that is another story. The venue was great, the banquet food was outstanding! The motel and its amenities were fantastic. It was just an outstanding weekend. I look forward to Kansas City next year.

Note to US Scout: your lack of good travel fortune must be due to your good fortune sliding off onto me - leaving you with only bad fortune. I made it home in 11 hours! I have never in my life, and I have been doing it since 1971, made it thru Chicago without significant traffic jams and that includes driving thru at 3:00 am. Well this year both coming and going I flew thru the town in about 20 minutes. Hope you get to Kansas City next year in better condition than you arrived in Council Bluffs and I hope that I can see you at Hooten.

Glad someone benefited from my misfortunes!

Like Dutchie said in "Ride with the Devil", it was my bad luck to have bad luck.

If it weren't for my bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all.

Life seems to have improved some since my return.  It must have just been the phase of the sun or the moon or something.
