Montana Slim

As the convention is upon us, I've had a few inquiries whether I'd be attending....I mostly told folks "probably not"...well, truth is I've been preoccupied with medical problems for the past few months.

Surprisingly (not), I've had symptoms for years and now it's finally diagnosed. Accordingly, I'm getting my gallbladder removed and will have some other OEM "parts" modified to correct problems with my stomach and esophagus (my "gullet" in cowboy-speak). Surgery is next week (22 Feb). I'll post an update when I'm fit enough to type.

Doc says I may have to swear-off on beverages such as sarsaparilla and beer for the long-haul... I'll have to wait-see.....it seems whiskey (my preference) is not barred...but, I ain't-even-gonna ask.

Prayers and kind thoughts are appreciated. But, please keep it low-key..... I'd hate to use up all my good-standing with the "big-man" in one shot.

Yours,
Slim (aka Wayne Stevens)

Good luck to ya pard, keep us informed, if you need any advice on how to behave at the horse-pistol and not get in to too much trouble, hollor I'm a frequent flier. ;D

As for the other I'd say it's the carbonation, sometimes a problem with things like this.

Wayne,

I know I don't need to tell you this, but for the benefit of others who may find themselves in similar circumstances, the best dressing for surgical wounds, as with all other things that need protecting, is Ballistol.  8)

This would also be the opportune time to cash in all those markers that are due for cleaning Will Ketchem's guns all these years. I'm sure Pete will be happy to drive over and scoop your snow, mow your lawn, paint your house, etc until you're finally mended...no matter how looong a full recovery takes. Remember, just because you can shoot, ride horses and bungee jump, don't let anyone push you into such strenuous tasks as lawn care, etc until YOU feel ready. Let Pete do it.  ;)

BTW, if you could arrange for the surgery to be done under period correct conditions we could run the pictures in The Shootist:o...or, maybe Delmonico could use the 'spare parts' in an article on omlets.  :-X

all seriousness aside...we'll all be pullin' for you,

Well after reading what the Lone Gunman wrote all I could think about is how lucky you are to have a friend like Pete. Well I bet he would even bring you an bottle when you run dry .
Good luck with the saw bones and hope to shoot on the same Posse with yawl at the Nationals.

Hey, don't make Pete feel so bad that he insists on getting me a sack of cool cowboy "gifts" while shopping at the convention!
BTW, my favorite calibers are .44 Rus & 44-40 and any C&B  ;)

A sincere "Thank-you" to all...and... I'll check-in ASAP after I get home & am well medicated.

...and thanks for helping with Pete's "to-do" list  :D

Now wait a minute Jeff.  Slim's wife Karen makes all his clothes.  Don't go getting Joan in trouble with her by volunteering for her to sew Slim's clothing ;D   Heck I'll mow the darn lawn but Karen can mend his clothing.
