Pards and pardettes - it's official - my new toy is half paid and on hold.

I have almost acquired a 90% all matching 1879 Argentine full battle rifle rolling block in 43 spanish.

The deal came with 100 43 spanish brass - only 20 fired once before.

100 bullets correctly set-up for 43 spanish with BP lube!!

The loading dies for the 43 spanish

And the beautiful all matching rifle - it is in such good condition I have to wonder if at some point it was reblued - however if it was - whomever did it - did a "factory" level job.

I will post pics as soon as i can.  The rolling block was one of the three rifles that the USRCS (precursor to USCG) used in the 1870-1900 period.  After the Span Am war - the USRCS and USCG slowly came around and followed the weapons of the other services but before then - you could find spencer rifles, springfield rifles, rolling blocks and remington keane's.

The caliber may be wrong but i could have bought 3-4 of these for the price of a 45-70 one in worse condition and a new Rolling block can't be had in the military configuration.

Quite excited
