Howdy to the camp!

We despite the shoulder surgery three weeks ago, I was determined to shoot a match today.  I borrowed a 20 gauge with light loads, padded my shoulder under my vest, grabbed the Spencer Carbine, Henry military Rifle, and a brace of 1858 Uberti's (one with an R&D and one a factory gated conversion.

Out of six stages, I dropped one pistol shot  with the 1858 with R&D (of course it was one of the closest targets).  I  Shot clean with the gated conversion.  It was a real crowd pleaser.  Everyone on the Posse wanted to check it out.  I used 180 and 230 grain Black Hills Schofields in them.  I haven't had a chance to load any BP loads for a long time.  It was dead on poinnt of aim on the targets.

Thanks for the report.  Glad to hear the shoulder worked ok for the shoot,...and also glad to hear the Uberti conversion was shooting POA. Must have a good tall front sight. Does that recoil sheild come out easily? Looks like it isn't screwed on, ..it just sets on behind cylinder, and will come out after cylinder is removed ,...have I got that right?

Actually it is screwed to the frame.  Uberti did that to keep from having a patent infringement lawsuit from Kirst.  I have been meaning to take it out and see if my Uberti percussion cylinder will fit.  Cimarron will be offing the gated conversions with a percussion cylinder also as a combo.  I am not sure about Taylor's.  I for got to ask Tammi.

Oh, they are screwed to the frame. Interesting. When I look at the picture on the Cimarron site.....

.....I don't see any screw holes, although the picture of the recoil sheild  isn't that large.  The firing pin hole is obvious.  Just where is the screw located?
Thanks! :)

T.L., since I'm toying with the idea of getting one I'd like to know some things please, kind sir.

Does your Uberti gated conversion shoot more to POA with heavier or lighter bullets? Have you put it on paper? Have you tried real BP in it yet?

Here is an except from my upcoming CC article on it.

"I used a traditional two hand hold at about ten meters to do the shooting.  The temperature was cold (below 32 degrees) and windy.
For this article, I used the following smokeless ammunition from Jeff Hoffman at Black Hills ammunition. I did not have any black powder loads loaded up, so I just used the factory ammo I had on hand.
1)   Black Hills .45 Colt 250 grain.
2)   Black Hills .45 Schofield 230 grain.
3)   Black Hills .45 Schofield 180 grain
The shooting was done at 10 yards, traditional two hand hold.  The 250 grain .45 Colt ammunition from Black Hills printed a group about three inches above point of aim, about centered, with a group that was about two inches in diameter.  The Black hills 230 grain Schofield load group was about two inches above point of aim, centered, and had a two inch group.  Finally, the Black hills 180 grain Schofield ammunition grouped about one inch above point of aim, and about a one and a half inch in diameter group"

I did not have any BP to shoot when I did the test.

Thanks you, sir. I'll make a report on some BP loads as soon as I get some bullets loaded up.  ;)
