Howdy,
Was wondering if anybody has had luck with American Pioneer Powder in .45 Colt,.45 S&W or .45 Cowboy Special in their rifle. APP says that it doesn't require lube. I have shot it with great success in my 1858 Remingtons and my T/C White Mountain Carbine in .54 but haven't tried it yet in my 1866 Yellowboy. I did load all my APP loads for .45 in Winchester brass as it appears to be thinner than Starline brass. I plan on using the EPP 150- grain in the future in the Cowboy Special brass but have a bunch of Meister 200 gr. RNFP's to shoot up. Thanks.

I loaded APP in 45 LC cases with 250g Bonus RNFP and they did great. Shot these in my 1866.
APP in 45S&W cases with 200g Bonus RNFP also fine.... Shot these in my Rooger Bisleys.

So yes, smokeless bullets are fine.

Have been using it in my Rossi 92 and Ruger Vaquros, shoots  just fine. Get your brass in a container of soapy water asap.

It's smoky.............Bought both .45 and .44-40 loaded with APP but, have never personally loaded with it.   What I understand you can use yer smokiless bullets to load with it.

I`ve loaded 45 LC with APP and shot them from my Marlin Cowboy and my Remmies with conversion cylinders ....Loaded with what i call cheap bullets ( Oregon Trail 200gr rnfp ) 25 bucks for 500 here local .
They shoot fine for SASS work . out too 25 yards ...any further out and the target needs to be big .
Easy clean up in the Marlin and the pistols .

Besides using APP in my .44 Colt rds, I also run it in my .44 WCF in my '66 Yellowboy carbine.  It works just fine with smokeless lubed bullets.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

Guess I will just have to go out and shoot some. I was thinking about going to 44-40 in a yellowboy to get a better seal and stop the blow by. But I'd rather not have to buy another gun right now, or I should say my Wife would rather I not buy another gun right now. Thanks for the help.

I have been useing it for several years now and use standard lube bullets in all my guns.  APP makes oil, and stays moist, I use a pare of Rem.58's both conversion and C&B with no trouble or binding like with real BP,but you do not get the flame with APP.
