Im down to one of two choices for another hat.  Boss of the Plains, or a Bell Crown (Eastwoods Pale Rider hat). Both are historic correct with the Bell Crown dating to the mid-1850s. What links or info do ya'll have for the best deal on one of these two hats?
If found some under 100 and one Bell Crown as much as 700.oo (which is wayy too much for me)!!
Clothing sutlers? Can you guide me to a correct and exacting sutler that also deals 'dead center' on historic accuracy and is still a good buy for the dollar? Im not looking for 'hollywood' dress for a day to get by',,but correct to the minute detail of period proper.
Please check out the link below to The Shootist Message Board. You'll have fun there,,,we discuss about every aspect imaginable!

Thanks gang,

My chosen persona would be,,west of the Mississippi in the western terrotries circa 1872-1885.
I am going very slow ,,as to not waste money similiar to the way I did when getting into 1700's eastern frontier reenactment about  25 years ago.
The neat thing here,,I can get a good firearm for around 500.oo,,,and that will not even get you a consultation on a fine flintlock.
The correct choice of clothing will be my major concern.  Open tops and conversiions are my firearms of perference.
Thank you for the links. The more I can research and just 'look before I leap' the wiser my dollars will be spent.
