Howdy All,

Got a blue 5 1/2 inch barrel Pietta Remmie from Cabela's a few months ago.

Been shootin' it a LOT, Black powder C&B, conversion cylinder "cowboy" loads and fast-draw practice w/wax bullets.

Bet I put a thousand rounds down 'er tube ! Never was to happy with the trigger pull. Sear notch on the hammer was undercut too much; ya could see the hammer rock back a mite as the trigger was pulled. It was startin' to chew up the trigger's sear surface. >:(

Then I saw this on the Cabela's website...

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp;jsessionid=5IITEXPRA3GQYCWQNWRSCNQK0BW0IIWE?id=0006120214052a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=Replacement+Pistol+Parts+Kit&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=Replacement+Pistol+Parts+Kit&noImage=0&_requestid=36440

Complete kit of stainless steel internals for Pietta Remmies. 8) Durn good price compaired to ordering it all from VTI  :)

Hammer and trigger/bolt springs ain't stainless but everything else is. Hand is not fitted and the trigger sear surface need a little dressing but the hammer notches were good to go. Polished and smoothed everything with Dremel/emery/stones. Dropped it in while reuse existing hand and bolt (which were already STAINLESS by the way !).

Bingo ! Great trigger pull, easy cocking and real purdy to !

I'll save the extra long hand and the bolt/cylinder stop for a spare.

The stainless trigger was wider and longer than the case colored carbon steel original. Needed a little trimming and smoothing to clear the triggerguard but works real nice now !

All you Pietta Remmie shooters oughta get this here spares kit. They offer one for Colts to. Follow the link from the Colt Navies listing. Works for all the Pietta Colts but ain't offered in STAINLESS like the Remmies are. :(

QuoteSear notch on the hammer was undercut too much; ya could see the hammer rock back a mite as the trigger was pulled.

On any SA revolver, the hammer is supposed to rock back ever so slightly when the trigger is pulled. Sear and hammer notches are purposely cut with a very slight angle off of the centerline of the hammer pivot. This is so the sear will naturally 'nest' at the deepest part of the hammer notch, even if the trigger spring were not present. Pulling the trigger rocks the hammer back ever so slightly as the sear moves forward in the full cock notch. Be very careful when filing or dressing hammer notches and sears by hand. They ARE NOT supposed to be parallel to the hammer's axis of rotation. In addition, it is very easy to accidentally introduce a negative angle when stoning hammer notches and/or sears. In this case the hammer spring is attempting to wedge the sear out of the hammer notch. The only thing holding the hammer at full cock will be the trigger spring. This is a dangerous condition and is to be avoided.
That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

Dagnabit ! Posted the wrong link ! >:(

Yesiree Mr. Palidin UK, fact is I got BOTH of the parts kits, one fer the COLT one fer me REMMIE.

As you all can see from the link, the COLT part kit is really cheep and the REMMIE kit is offered in both standard and STAINLESS. Calela's has links on their site from the specfic revolver listings under "accessories". Whole lot sheaper than getting 'em from Brownell's or VTI.

Don't know about their shipping options few the U.K. but us in the colonies can get 'em in our mailbox in about 3-4 days ! ;D

Now as far a sear notch angles, I'm REAL careful not to change anything, I'm just smooothing off burrs and boogers. The old hammer rocked back a LOT while the trigger was pulled. I've got a bunch of single actions and I'd never seen anything like it ! :P

I like my shiny hammer and trigger, nickle plated the triggerguard a while ago and it looks mighty nice on the blue REMMIE. ;)
