I've got a question: 

What is the ONE historical firearm that you would like to see correctly reproduced, that is not currently made (or could be made better)?

For me, it would be a Smith & Wesson #3, 1st. Model Russian, with the 8 inch barrel.  This is identical to the American Model, but chambered in .44 Russian calibre (before they went to the 2nd. and 3rd. Model Russians, before the Shofield, and before the New Model #3).

I've toyed with the idea of purchasing an original, but prices are pretty intense....to the point that it's pretty much just a collector's game, not a shooters game.  I want one to SHOOT!!!!

Al Story in NM makes a Borchardt copy. They start at about 5K.  Shiloh will have a Borchardt as well in a few years. They are tooling up as this is written.

O.T., hang in there as what I want is EXACTLY what you want! I was told by a man at Cimarron to "hold on" & he would say no more regarding an American clone "project". I'll bet we see it within two years or so, after a Merwin & Hulbert.    If no American model I'd settle for an authentic thin plate Remmy conversion.

Although I would really like to have a correct copy of the New Model number 3 I would settle for the Smith & Wesson #3, 1st. Model Russian that OT wants.  To me the NM 3 is the pinnacle of break action Smiths.  My originals balance so well that they seem to aim themselves.

Buchanan,  my dear good friend, my brother, my doppelganger...at long last someone else who would like to see a Russian first model made again.  Much more common than the Schofield or the Merwin or some of the other "stuff" being made, and yet we can't get one.

8", nickle-plated, and .44 Russian caliber.  Make 'em like the originals so we can pump BP thorugh 'em, make them reliable, make them with a great metal finish, and make them affordable.  I'll take a pair to start.

       I wrote in February and December of 2003 to inquire about your possible Merwin Hulbert reproductions, and if they were to be made. Your sales department(Tanya I believe was her name) said to keep checking back and so 3 years later I am doing so. Will these be made? Are they still a possibility? Or has the idea run it's course.

       I have read reports from the Shot Show  and know you will have a ' 76 Repro available soon and that is great, but I have to tell you the Merwin would be the ultimate revolver and A REPRODUCTION FIREARM  NO OTHER COMPANY HAS. It may not be the biggest money maker (for your company) and it would most likely cost the general public (myself included) as much or more than the current Smith reproductions, but for those of us who want a truly unique and accurate reproduction revolver that would be a small price to pay(pun intended). I own 2 of your Richards-Mason Coversions, 1 Open Top, and have owned several of your ' 73 repros ( all fine firearms ) and I will always purchase your products regardless of whether the MH is produced.  But I would love to be able tell my shooting pards my MH repro is a Cimarron. So if possible I would appreciate a response even if it is in the negative.

As you can see, I want the MH reproduced really bad! Will it happen? Your guess is as good as mine. About two months after the reply from Mike Harvey I read on another site that the project had been killed. Hope that is not the case, so we shall see.

That just ain't fair.  ONLY ONE!

I guess it would have to be a S & W New Model 3 in .44 Russian. [I haven't seen a Laramie to see how close they are. But they are in the the wrong calibers.] 

I would like to find a '66 in .44 Special that could be tweaked to shoot Russians.  That would be a sweet companion for my S & W DA .44.

The MH revolvers would be nice and so would a 1st Model Russian etc......

BUT, my preference would be for a truly accurate repro of the Smith NM No. 3 in .44 Russky.
Properly sized and scaled, good for smokeless or BP, dependable, (not that concerned about the finish) and not ridiculously overpriced.

I'd have to dust off the checkbook for that one.

You all are thinking along the same lines as me.  In addition to the Smith, I would also like to see the Merwin.  It would also be neat to see a 49 or 62 Colt Conversion as well.....

While the Merwin Hulbert would be nice, for myself, I have always had an fondness for break-tops.  All the way from my little Iver Johnson 5-shot .32 S&W to the big boys.  However, since there are several different versions of the S&W break-top being made, I would like to see something different.  A reproduction of the early Webley revolvers in .455 Mark I as well as .45 Colt & .45 ACP.



That would be something different to pull out at a shoot!  Imagine two Webley Mark II's bucking and roaring with great clouds of white smoke billowing out as they are emptied in to the no good rustlers stealing your cattle.

1)a 1877 colt DA... easly produced with a difrent arangement on the in side to make it a little more robust..... but the out side could easly be the same
2) a version of a pocket pistol... there are servreal that could easly be made
