Now them aint warthog loads, heck I would not rate a full BP 44 Russian load a Warthog load but ehy sure do ring the steel pretty!!

Now Rooster I got me an observation through your typing.

If'n your wad is lubed, and it is between your powder and ball why more lube after the ball??

When I had a pair of C&B's before I shot them at my parents farm with 1cc powder, wonder wad, and a ball - those guns made it through 5 full firings (5 rounds loaded in each gun) each without binding - with absolutely no cleaning inbetween.  The sixth time was stiff enough to cock so I swabbed the front of the cylinder with a rag wet with balistol and wallah another 4 full firings each.

Are you using a lubed wad or do you need the extra lube because you are using a dry wad??

I ask more because - LCR is about to hand me my 1851 C&B's back with three cylinders made ready for each gun and I have only shot C&B's in one match.  My intention is to shoot C&B for awhile, and use some of those 2500 smokey loads to sight in my long barreled 1873 for long range pistol caliber side matches.

So I am wondering if'n I should use more lube or if'n the wonder wad is enough....

What do ya'll think??

BTW - the reason I loaded up so much is that I am trying to use up all my APP for my complete conversion to the one true powder!!  Dang, I still have another pound and 1/2 of APP to go through!!  But hey I cleaned another 2000 38spl brass and that should take me back into my GOEX!!

I was just booted out, so I'll try again...

I'm new to BP and use both because that's how I learned it.  I noticed the redundancy right off, but don't have a problem with it because it can't be bad to push two kinds of lube through.  I just don't see how the lubed patch can "coat" the bore like the butter is supposed to do over time.

Any opinions?

Remington clones need a lot of lube to keep functioning. So, lubed wads and lube over the balls are not redundant IMHO. I have even filed lube grooves in the base pins and fill 'em with lube 'fore I shoot 'em.
I have no experience with the Colt clones.
