Just sitting here looking at the rain poundingdown outside (been a long, dry summer). Winter's coming and I'll be spending more and more time in my workshop. :P
In addition to the usual 'honeydew' list, I plan on making some gunleather for fun- for my pocket pistol (kinda self defeating-a holster for a pocket pistol), a rig for my wife (maybe). I have some wood trade boxes I plan to turn into shooting boxes to place on a cart (cheap shooting carts). A stock or 2 to refinish. I reload 12' and 20 ga now, but will start reloading for my 16's I'm sure. I have several powder horns I plan to scrimshaw.
Gonna be a busy winter (of course if it isn't raining or too awful cold. I'll be shooting on weekends).
What are your plans this winter?  ???
All America lies at the end of the wilderness road, and our past is not a dead past, but still lives in us. Our forefathers had civilization inside themselves, the wild outside. We live in the civilization they created, but within us the wilderness still lingers. What they dreamed, we live, and what they lived, we dream. -- T.K. Whipple

Well I have new grips I won to fit to my Colt replica,  rebuild my Walker Colt,  and maybe refinish the pair of 58' Remmies that I'll soon be getting.  And alot of reloading and load testing for all my guns.

Gonna learn beadwork for my fringed leather coat,  and I'm gonna make a vest with a leather front and fabric back.

We don't get a lot of what you'd call winter here, so I expect my wife is planning to "dragoon" me into a ton of yard work, too.

Cast bullets, Cast bullets, and Cast bullets. I've ordered a 4 cavity Lyman 44/40 mould so I will be able to go twice as fast this winter. I promise myself every winter I'm going to cast enough for summer but it never seems to happen.
I have to reload and do some leather work. Looking for more uniform parts and pieces. I also make up portable loading blocks to take to the shoots.

I have a pretty big project planned. A friend at work gave me an old 19 foot travel trailer. It is pretty rough, but I plan to fix it up enough that I can be a bit more comfortable when I go to big shoots. Trouble is that it is like a house remodel on a smaller scale and I hope it doesn't turn out to be a money pit. I guess I will just set a tight budget. It was built in 1978 and wasn't taken care of very well.

Okay every one here has something I intend on trying to complete this winter.  Please send me yer address so I can send materials and parts so you can work them in.   "Howdy" my horse trailer just needs the lights rewired from where the cows chewed up the pig tail, and the bearings repacked.

I think I'll be doing a bunch of reloading to get ready for next season and also go to shoots whenever the weather allows.

May try to do a cosmetic restoration of my grandfather's Belgian made 10 ga. SXS.  Barrels are damascus and pitted so I am not real interested in trying to shoot it.

presently I am standing upside down on the bottom of the world and it will be summer in a few weeks. Not much foot based hunting going on, too hot, too many snakes. I will try and get my loading set up back in business, I've just moved home afterbeing on the road a few years with work, my bench is buried and no presses or gear are attached to it at the moment. The casting gear is the same. Hopefully by the time the weather cools, I will have the casting set up properly and will cast a up a storm, hunt like crazy and spend lots of time at the range. This time next year, my life will be i order, I will be retired and organised, I have a lot of guns to wear out.Mick.
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!
