Gluing corduroy to leather.

Can it be done wihout screwing up the fabric by bleeding through and ruining the color or making it stiff?  I'm talking about fairly light garment leather.

All the stuff I use would make it too stiff. Sounds like it would be better sewed to it.

You might try 3M 's 777  maybe on a test strip spray both surfaces lightly.
I've used it with canvas to 10oz. leather and it still pliable.

Forty Pard, If we knew what was to be done with the stuff after gettin it stuck togeather, we might be of more help.

What seems to be needed is a thin pliable adhesive.  There is stuff called (or sounds like) stitch witchery, it is used to glue two pieces of fabric togeather.  It might be what you need, you have to use an iron so heat might be a problem.  Tandy's used to have a product called Leather weld that said it would work for fabric too.  I am presuming that seepage through the fabric would be a problem, otherwise you would just use Barge or rubber cement.

I'm going to recreate my old Army dress blue shoulder boards, sorta. 

Got some ribbed corduroy fabric in the correct Ornance scarlet color and am going to use 11/0 seed beads to add the "gold" border and "silver" captain's bars.  I was planning to use some light leather to stiffen the fabric, but have decided to use strips cut from old Levis instead and sew it all together.  I figure that if I stitch the beads through both layers of fabric I won't need to glue them togeher.

They will be the same width as the originals, but 1" longer so they'll look right.  Going to sew them onto the shoulders of a fringed leather coat, add some other bead work, and go parade myself around fishing for compliments. 

Might decide to add some scalp locks, bear claws, maybe a finger or two...
