I used to shoot black powder a lot.  As a kid, my dad had a thompson .54, and I built a couple of those "kit" guns.

I need to be talked OUT of this.  Not encouraged.  I don't think my poor, long suffering wife of 19 years can stand another round of that o-so-fun game that I play that I call "What's in the Box?"

See, whenever I do something like this, it usually gets delivered when she is home.  Not me.  Her.  And then she waits for me to get home and then I get that wonderful question:

"So.... what's in the box?  Hummm?"

Sure, she has a good, supportive humor about it.  But she has seen guns, guitars, tools, hunks of wood, etc.

Plus, its her birthday soon.  Real soon.

However, the dollar is dropping and I don't see these prices being this low again.

Yeah, I'm in the "economics 101" justification stage.

So, I need to be talked OUT of this.  Quickly.

I'd say  to invest now and protect yer principal.  The Dollar could do a reverse and there ya'd be, all that money and no gun.  Besides, I've never spent a gun.  But, I've spent a LOT of Dollars.  They just slide away.  Guns stay.

I wouldn't go with the kit, but then I am already set up for shooting percussion revolvers anyway.  I have a shop here in Denver that specializes in BP stuff and buy what I need there.  I started shooting percussion revolvers 23 years ago.  And just started getting into those newfangled cartridge revolvers a few years ago.  I here rumors that they are coming out with a smokeless powder.  It'll never catch on.

And do you really expect this bunch to talk you out of getting another gun.  Won't happen.

I got mine about ten years ago for a birthday present from my WIFE!.  It's great fun to shoot.  Have only recently started to shoot CAS with it.  Worked great through the match a couple of weeks ago.  GET IT.   Or if you want one in antique finish the Mitchel SD Cabala's had one in there bargain cave a couple of weeks ago.  I almost went home with it but am saving for a 1875.
