She's shooting high with the R&D .45 conversion using factory cowboy ammo. The 165 Schofield groups the best but still to high. Will the post sight pull out or maybe screw out of the dovetail base? Where can I get a replacement taller sight? Is this a 3/8 dovetail? Or some good ideas on making my own. Thanks,Boots.

You drift out the entire front sight. Put the barrel in a padded vise and with a brass drift, tap the sight out of the slot.

Contact    ssfirearms.com     They sell Euroarms guns and parts. They may be able to help you with the dimensions or a replacement sight.

If you shoot a LIGHTER bullet it will print lower.

I bought a few dovetail front sights for my remmies from Dixie and it just fits the Euro gun and shoots POA at 15 yards .

Boots,.......I've also noticed that the '58 Rem Euroarms shoot high because they have a low front sight.

Wish I had known about those Dixie front sights.  :'(

I put an Uberti '58 Rem front sight on my '58 Euroarms Navy. I bought the sight from VTI.
Like Hellgate says, you have to drift out the dovetailed Euroarms sight with a brass drift, and I noticed that it's not only dovetailed into the barrel,...it's a tapered sliding dovetail,...meaning it only goes in one way, and comes out the other,.... or should I say it won't slid all the way through, but must come back out the same side it entered.  The slight taper allows them to be snugged in tight. At least that's the way it is on my Euroarms Navy, made in 1976.

Here's some photos of the process......

first photo shows the two sights ,...the Uberti sight is sitting on the top of the Euroarms barrel, which has its stock sight still in place.....the Uberti site is noticeably taller

I ground down the Uberti sight so it would fit in the narrower Euroarms dovetail slot.
I held it with needle nose pliers with leather pads glued to the face of the pliers so as not to mar the sight, while  holding  it firmly to grind its front and back face to carefully bring it down to match the dovetail slot on the Euroarms barrel.......

Here's the new Uberti site fitted to the barrel. It could still be filed flush to the barrel at the sides, but I've just left it that way for now.......

That really helped bring the point of impact down . It's really not hard to do, because you can use the Euroarms dovetail slot, and just fit the Uberti sight to it. A little cold blue on the sides that were ground down, and it looks original,.... good luck with it ...;)

Howdy Oldelm,
I have one of those replacement sights from Dixie Gunworks looks like the same one in the picture. My question is which way does the sight drift for removal? My 1972 ASP also shoots high and a little left but I have been unable to even move the sight. I have used a nylon and a brass punch to little effect. Your help is much appreciated.

Howdy Biermeister,.....

Mine went in (and out) from the left side of barrel (your left side when holding the gun).
I just put some measuring calipers on those protruding edges that I didn't file flush,....and the left side is .010 wider than the right side. So maybe you should try tapping it firmly on the right side to slid it back out the left side,...ifin yours is machined the same way. I reckon it would be, since yours was made "back then" too.  ;)

Let us know if ya have any luck gettin it loose.

Thanks OldElm,
Appreciate the info. That has to be about the tighest dovetailed sight I have attempted to move. Hope I have more luck on the next attempt.

Dixie was slap out of them sights (sigh). Had to go threw the entire check out prosses before it informed me of this. Will have to call S&S. Cant get their parts page on this outdated web-tv! May have to try the Uberti sight fix.

Boots I`d call S&S before ya try a Uberti front sight .. those dove tails are alot wider than whats on the Euro gun ..you`d have to do alot of trimming down ..might want to get 2 if ya try it in case ya mess one up . The shipping is as high as the sight . I must have bought all that Dixie had .
