Dove tail sight to replace ramp

I'd like to have a dove tail cut in my round barrel Marlin .44 to replace the ramp sight so as to make the rifle as period correct as possible.

Will I have to have the barrel cut, re-crowned and then the dovetail cut, or is it possible to cut it in over or between the present screw holes?

Know anyone who specializes in such work?

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

Any gunsmith or machine shop with a milling machine can do it.  It' s not particularly hard.  If the screw hole is in the right place, no problem milling right across that spot.

Okay, that's good.  I assume it should be a 3/8 dovetail cut?

Does anyone know of someone here in the central Texas area that does this sort of thing?
