Dr. Bob

Howdy folks,

I am new to this board but can be found on the NCOWS, GAF, and CAS City Hisorical Society boards with some regularity.

I just bought a Merwin Hulbert Pocket revolver and this seems to be the venue for advice and knowledge.  I expect that I will learn a lot here.

So send a photo of your new treasure...

I've seen it - but I'm betting a lot of other folks haven't and the Merwin, Hulbert's design is a most interesting one - no matter what size.

Again, congratulations.

Thanks Joss!

That is the Merwin Hulbert that I am buying.  I can't post pictures with my webtv and Joss was kind enough to post it for me.

I'm pretty excited with anticipation.  I try not to drool on my keyboard when I look at the pics!  ;D ;D :o ;D ;D

Beans

Is that a folding hammer spur?

Dr. Bob

Howdy Beans,

Yes it is!  This was a feature of many Merwin Hulbert modles.  The pocket revolver that I am buying also came in 38 Cal., a 5 shot model which was avaialble with the folding hammer spur.  There were aslo 32 & 38 spur trigger pocket models with the folding hammer spur.

The Pocket Army also had the folding spur hammer.

Most of the Merwin Hulbert revolvers were nickel plated and factory engraving was available too.

Dr. Bob

WAAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!  It came in the mail today!  It is a sweeeeeeet little revolver.  The bore is very good and the lock up is tight.  The bone grips are real nice and it fits in my hand real nice.  I'm tickled pink!

gw,

I sure will bring it along to the Convention!  I need to make one of the in-the-pocket holster that are in Packing Iron to go in my sack coat pocket.

Sure sounds like a keeper Doc. Not getting personal here, but does it suck? When you pull out on the barrel assy. does it want to pull itself back on the cylinder rod?  A little oil on the rod will increase the tendency for it to work this way. Again, glad you like it and help me remember to bring mine to the Convention.

Just imagine trying to explain this to the uninitiated:

"Now if it sucks, thats good"
"If it doesn't suck, that sucks"

A certain radio talk show host often complains that the English language has been high-jacked.
The connotation of words have been twisted to mean nearly the opposite of the denotation.

Nimrod was a great hunter.  Now Nimrod is only used sarcasticly.

Liberal means generous to a fault.
Consevative means reluctant to change. (If it aint broke, don't fix it.)

For years I have been saying, sucks is a good thing.  Not just with Merwin Hulberts.
(Think about it.)

I've held my peace for so long. . .

So, Dr. Bob, the next time you begin to quiver and shake and moan and quake from the efects of abject poverty, - claiming you're the most sorrowful, pitiful pauper on the planet and therefor need to rely on the kindness of strangers to enable you to afford decent lodging, or transportation, or a proper campaign chest for your NCOWS Senate bid. . .

may we suggest you cuddle up to your Merwin for relief?

RCJ,

I suppose that you could say that, if you want.

I have loaned myself the bulk of the cost and must pay back the tax fund over the next 3 months!  Worth it to have a neat new toy. ;D :o ;D  At least it's not so bad that I have to give up dancing or chocolate!

If you haven't noticed, my NCOWS Senate campaign is an unfunded one already!  I stand upon my platform, which you may receive in the Shootist before the ballots must be returned. ;D ;D ;D  Now it is up to the printer and the Postal Service!  I am sure that they will come through in time.

Actually, I will pay for the opportunity to shoot some BP rounds through that Merwin! ;D

And yes, I'm a bit jealous.
