Need advice on a 'new shotshell' and load.

My 2 year old loves playing with my shotshell loading blocks and empty hulls. I usually cut the brass end off so that she had a 'tube' to play with. Keeps her happy for hours.
I was recently looking at the jar full of brass ends and wondering. 'Wondering' is dangerous, especially for me, cause it leads to 'experimenting' and then 'playing'... Some people on here might understand that. Anyhow... I got some thick oversized cigarette rollling papers and formed a tube. Glued one end of the 'tube' around the brass and carefully loaded up some 'paper shells'. The end result looked a little funny, with a slightly tapered profile due to the wads and card used being for a 12G plastic shotshell. But with careful loading, I managed to get quite a stable 'shell', 2 3/4" long, and just twisted the remainder of the length over the end to keep everything in place; then I went out and 'played'.
I was amazed at the results. Shooting these caused the cig paper to completely disintegrate, but other than that, they acted like normal shot shells. Not that I have had the chance to 'pattern' these, I was just playing.
The end result that I was looking for worked. That is that when I broke the coach gun, the brass just fell out, no shucking or effort needed.

Now are the questions.
Except for the fact that these are fragile (I carried them stuck into a plastic tube for protection), would there be any use for these?
Would this work better with nitrated brown packing paper? (it would be less fragile).
   Would they be SASS legal?

If / When I make up some more of these, I will get pics taken.

Additional note.

These made the chambers VERY dirty.

Very interesting.
I don't know why they wouldn't be SASS legal.

These 'shotshells' were a pain to hand load as the paper kept ripping. I am thinking of making a plastic tube that I can use to put the 'shotshell' inside of to protect it when I am loading them up (if i make any more).

I know you are s'pearmintin' but, wouldn't it just be easier to load some plastic.................?

Yeah.... would be mucho easier to just load plastic.... and thats what i usually do. Trouble is that the Ferrett spends most of his day looking after a 2 year old daughter, so, when the sun goes down, and the daughter goes to bed, the Ferrett needs something which is a complete change of tack.

I always thought the idea of a round that basically ate itself up was interesting. Ho hum...

I think the old adage should be changed to 'Curiosity killed the ferrett'

Sounds like the "Stockholm Syndrom"!  You identify with the hostage holder.

I too can play.  I cut off the fried & split crimps on plastic shells.  Loaded the remainder like a brass shell!
