Howdy to the camp,

One last post, and I will quit hogging the list<g>

Had an interesting experience trying to load my new Spencer Infantry rifle.  I put seven in the butt, tried to seat the mag tube over them, but kept getting stuck.  It would only go down all the way with 5 rounds in it.  I pulled out the mag tube and looked in the slot and saw it had a steel dowel screwed in the backside of the follower plug that stopped at 5 rounds.  I removed the plug, unscrewed the dowel, then put it back together.  Works great.

I called Tammy at Taylor's and asked her why they have a 5 round capacity.  She had no idea.  In fact, she didn't even know that Armi Sport was doing it on the new guns, and had not heard of it.  SHe will check the new guns, and let customers know how to take it out.

Anyone else find this?

It's a duck plug so you won't "over limit"!  ;D ;)

   Greetings!

I, too have this "plug" in my Infantry Rifle; I'd offhandedly mentioned it elsewhere. Must be an Assault Rifle importation requirement {;)}.

Coulda been one of them "California Models" - you know, the thing they got against them "high-capacity" mags....

   Greetings!

No Doubt it being a "Hi-Cap Mag"; you've got to watch out for those 7 round magazines, especially here in the PRC {California, that is!}... I haven't gotten around to pulling it yet, but it's inevitable!

Howdy to the camp,

Well the 44-40 Spencer carbine I got from Cimarron for the article also had a five round block in it.  Dang, I guess these are real high capacity assault rifles, at least by 1862 standards<g>.

Chance

The reason for the "plug" is Italian law which limits repeaters to 5 shots. I import the Armi Sport rifles into the UK and the 1892 Winchesters also have a restrictor in the tube.
Strange that Uberti rifles do not have the restrictor - maybe they don't put them into the export guns.

I don't see any way they could put a restrictor in a Henry.

I remember when the Henry could not be imported in the US after the Capacity ban on assault rifles in 94.
I was really frosted, because I had to sell my first Allen Arms Henry and planned to replace it.
More than ten, it didn't get in...... took an ammendment by cooler wiser heads to get it changed ...

BTW
My 45 Sch. Spencer has no such follower plug.
when planets align...do the deal !
