 Bear in mind that we can adjust our loads and change the patterns, al lot. Also understand that the square load comes from the muzzleloading days, there were no shell lengths because there were no shells. If Dick D wants to shoot tighter patterns with that sawed off he should add shot and reduce powder. My Chicom Double is choked Improved Cylinder and Modified. By adding shot I can make it shoot up to Imp Mod and Full, by adding powder I can make it shoot both barrels Cyl. By adding a little more powder I can make it hit a big donut without wasting shot on the hole.
