ScheeooooooooooooT!! I live up the road at Bathurst. How's that for convienence?

Shot both days, mostly with the cap and ball, getting used to it. It hasn't seen much use and was very still, it is starting to improve, but gunks up quick.

My wife who is a new shooter lined up to shoot the cap and ball gun. She was very pleased that I had the noisiest, smokiest gun at the range!

I didn't get to have a ride, I was just too beat. I'm too old, having trouble keeping up to this hectic retirement lifestyle. I think I will dust the bike off tomorrow (during working hours so to speak  ;D ;D ;D ;D.

Tamworth was a great shoot! A great dinner at Outback Jack's on Saturday night, kicked off at 930am on Sunday, 6x stages and all Gunfighter friendly. Mind you no one in our possee was shooting gunfighter. I fancy shootign it, but I think I would have brain fade if i tried it, I get into enough trouble already!

Like I said, a great shoot!

Off to Newcastle area next weekend, picking up a couple of rifles that have been languishing at Cessnock (not cowboy guns, a fox shooter and an old Commisssion 8mm). I will also be dropping a few rifles in at my mate's place for restoration and then will shoot at the NewTexican's monthly shoot on Sunday. Can you camp on the range there? I have a camper trailer, I'm self sufficient for power. Maybe I should stay in the pub at Islington and have a slap up feed at the Indian Restaurant in Beaumont Street?

Plan B, Gunshops in Sydney Saturday morning (picking up a nice SxS Miroku 12Ga, swapped a fancy shotgun that I picked up in a trade that  doesn't fit me, maybe a new 223 as well). I bought the parents a new air con, so I will install that in the afternoon, then off to Newcastle for the shoot Sunday. It's a shame most of my friends there will all be in New Zealand kicking butt at the range, but no doubt it will be a good shoot anyway.

Visit the gunshop and pick up the other rifles on Monday and a visit to the beach while we're there and a leisurely drive home. It should be a good un'.

Like most things we are involved in 90% of the work will be done by 10% of the people. I'd still rather be one of the ones you are needing and not just feeding.

I have to get the big safe installed this weekend, I have my gun audit coming up. I've already managed to put it off once, but my back is totally trashed. I have a lot of damage and degeneration to the lower spine and a prisoner tried to break my neck once and that has gone out in sympathy with my lower back. Normally comes good in a few days, lately a week or so, but it has been three weeks now and I'm still buggered. I'm going to have to put my hand in my pocket and hire a navvy to help. Not really up to shooting or much else at the moment.

As soon as the wife stops force feeding me birthday tucker, I will have to lose a few pounds (quite a few) if I'm gonna keep turning up at the range and making noise.

I may be lame at the moment, but I'm not completelyout of the game yet saltbush.

My youngest boy is coming up on the weekend as it turns out. He is about to join the Navy and hasn't used a pistol much in the past 10 years (he was a commando in the regular army). He wants to blow the cobwebs away and is going to blast off some ammo through my Norinco 1911 9mm. That should be good. It ain't exactly a Browning, but its close enough.

Off to a school reunion  on Saturday, taking my 89 yr old father, because it is a reunion for the schools in REdfern/Waterloo area. I went to StVincents in Redfern and started there in 1952 or 3 and dad went to Mt Carmel at Waterloo and started there in 1926. INcredibly, he and his remaining classmates met once a month for dinner at Souths Rugby League club for lunch until recently. There was only three left, one a famous South Sydney footballer who passed away recently and Billy Wenham, the actor David Wenham's father. Dad's the only one left.

I ran into a woman when I was 20 something and I was down that way. It amazes me but I didn't get her details. I haven't run into any others since and the school is long closed. It should be interesting. It will give Mum a short break from looking after Dad as well. I'll drive home on Sat night and head off to Cowra to shoot with the Cowra Cowboys on Sunday.

It should be a good weekend.
