Howdt all. A couple folks wanted to see the pics of the rig once I got it. Took these in our "Cowboy guest room". Not as good as Chucks photography, but I do love the rig. I do leatherwork for fun, but this is art.

All America lies at the end of the wilderness road, and our past is not a dead past, but still lives in us. Our forefathers had civilization inside themselves, the wild outside. We live in the civilization they created, but within us the wilderness still lingers. What they dreamed, we live, and what they lived, we dream. -- T.K. Whipple

That sure does look good. I love the finish on the leather. It really has character. Your photos show the piece really well. Thanks for posting them.

St. George

Chuck does museum-grade work.

I originally posted these on the 'Historical Society Forum' and on the 'NCOWS Forum'  as well - with a bit more narrative - titled 'Now, That's a Knife...'

Take a look at his beadwork.

My new Bowie and sheath - made by Chuck Burrows at Wild Rose Trading Company - www.wrtcleather.com

The blade's hand-forged, the hilt is the beam of an Elk antler and the hilt and buttcap are from a wagon rim found near the site of the Fetterman Massacre.

The sheath's beaded in the Crow style.

Take a look for yourselves.

Doc, not to hijack your post, but I have a question for St. George (Nolan, you could probably answer definitively).  I see your knife is by Gib Guinard, do you know if he is still alive?  I had thought I read somewhere that he had passed.  I have a knife made by Gib - beautiful, rustic, and requires that I have another person around to carry it for me (it is that big!)  :D.

Doc, mighty fine rig!

Thanks for the info Nolan - sorry to confirm that he passed, he was a true artisan.  I have always been an admirer of your work and when two talents get together as you and Gib did . . . well you definitely hit a pinnacle.
