howdy,

my .45 cal new vaqueros' FINALLY got here!  :D  I tried them out yesterday and I seem to be shootin to the left about 6 inches at 15 yards.  they both are...so I figure it is me and not the guns.  Do i have to much finger on the trigger?  Im just tryin to figure this out...Im sure the more I shoot the better Im gonna get...I just dont want to be practising bad habits.
I want to shoot gunfighter...any hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  :)

Yup, most likely it's too much finger on the trigger.  You want just the pad and make sure you are squeezing straight back.  Do some dry fire.  Put a small target on the wall about 8 yards away (assuming you have that room) and take a very careful aim.  While squeezing the trigger very slowly continue to maintain your sight picture.  You should be able to maintain the sight picture all the way through the hammer fall and then just a little longer.  Follow through on the shot.

Do about a thousand repetitions of this and then go back to the range and see what happens.

Maintaining a consistant sight picture on the same point of the target for multiple shots ought to give you a reasonably small group in one spot on the target.  If that is not right where you were aiming (or a little low), you'll either need to get a gunsmith to turn the barrel, or send the target (and make sure to note the distance) along with the gun back to Ruger and they'll adjust it for you.

If you aren't getting a reasonably tight group on the target, keep working on the fundamentals (sight picture, trigger squeeze, follow-through, and stance).

Have the same problem myself with Colt clones. Discovered that the trigger is offset to the left :o and being lefthanded I pull it to the left. Gotta retrain my trigger finger all over ::) That's going to be a lot of fun :( The pard is right, too much finger on the trigger....
