Gonna place an order with Powder Inc... GOEX, KiK, or Skirmish for cheapest 3f?

I am gonna order 15 lbs of Goex Express FFg, which works ALOT better than Pyrodex Select or GOEX Cartridge.

but, for cap and ball, should I go with plain old Goex FFFg, Kik, or the cheap Skirmish powder?

Its only for my 58rem and 60 colts. I will use what I have left of GOEX FFFg for my big Walker, that I shoot maybe 5 times a year.

All other loads are around 25gr of FFFg.

Ideas? Or, just I just drop the extra $20 and get all GOEX brand? ($2/lb difference)

I'd take a look at ignition and performance.  If both are good with the less expensive powder, use it.  Accuracy won't suffer.  But, if you find that you get hangfires and squibb loads, it's poor economy.

Goex is a standard that many others are compared to.  Swiss costs more and some imports cost less.  But, here's one place you can save a few bux.  If you're havin' yer powder shipped and payin' a hazmat fee, the same fee will cover a full 25 can case.  Most suppliers will mix powder cans to make up a case lot.  So, find a couple of pards that can use some bp and share the hazmat and shipping fees.

I just found out why its so cheap.

Its not for using with cap-n-ball or large bullet cartridges. Its for blanks!!!

Lots of smoke and flash, but, not the burn rates and power that GOEX or Pyrodex have.

Looks like I'll just spend the extra $20 and get the "good stuff".

Again, GOEX Express  FFg was a joy to shoot in both my 45-90 and 38-55.

FWIW, Powder Inc. will mix a shipment.  Wildcat Will and I order together.  He likes Cowboy 'n I use 2f...........

I just ordered a case of Goex 3f from Powder Inc on monday ... they had it setting on my door step yesterday Thursday . $136.00 total for 10 cans . The Goex 3f works great in my cap and ball remmie 44 loads ... gets tighter groups than the Pyrodex P ....... and it smells so nice ..   no more chiemical fire smell for me !
The last time i bought a can of Goex at the local Bass Pro Shop here it was $19.99 a can .. so Powder Inc has got my business . They are good folks to deal with .

At the shop I do business it's only fifteen 'n they're high.  Their customer service makes it worth it ta buy stuff from 'em.  But the difference twix them 'n Powder Inc., I gottah make the exception.

Well, I put in my order for 25 lbs. I have a couple of pards who shoot BP as well and prefer GOEX.

I figure I can also sell a can or two for a very small profit at the next NCOWS or SASS event.

$365 for 25 lbs.

thats still $14.6/lb, which is $7/lb cheaper than what I can get Express for locally.

This should easily last me a good long while.

I will just burn off the rest of my Pyrodex Select and RS in 44-40 and 45lc cartridges.

Save the Express for 45-90 and 38-55.

I noticed the price gets cheaper per can the more cans ya order .. i only ordered 10 cans and it worked out to 13.60 per can to the door .. but i`m only about 300 miles from them maybe thats the difference ... bout time i get a break on something ..

You guys should check out Graf Brothers house brand, it's made in Germany and only $10.50 a pound.  Excellent stuff, very high polish like Shutzen, I feel it's better than Goex.

I'm thinkn' yer on to somethin', 44 Cal.  Graf's does get their store brand out of Germany if memory serves me.  Still got the Hazmat and the flat price of $20 will be the same everywhere.  The $20 is good for up to a full case lot.  For that reason it makes sense to spread the $20 over a whole case.  I wish it would cover two cases. . . .

I've gotten very good service and very low prices here. . .

FYI;

Graf's IS Schuetzen manufactured by WANO. Its just packaged under the GRAF label. Interestingly the production of WANO/Schuetzen is overseen by the Swiss folks. Its good stuff indeed wether sold under the Graf's label or the Schuetzen brand name.
