I have heard of this being done in the past.

It involved shortening the magazine spring and trimming (both?) follower and mag tube cap.

Anyone?

Are Winchester magazine followers all the same at this point? I see only "357" listed in some online catalogs.

I want to think all the bigger bore magazine followers and end caps are all the same.

DW,

I did just that on an original M'73 that had the barrel shortened to 17" for some reason in the deep, dark past by someone else.  When I converted it to 45 Colt, in order to get 10 rounds in the magazine, I had to shorten the magazine spring, the inside of the magazine cap and, if I remember correctly, the inside of the magazine follower.  You can take quite a bit off the spring and still get reliable feeding.  Just do it a coil or two at a time until you can get the 10 rounds (preferably dummy rounds) in the magazine and get them to cycle through the action.

DW,
My '94 Trapper .44 mag. will hold 10 .44 Specials. I expect it would be the same for a .45 if using Schofields.
I have NO first-hand experience with the .357 in thie '94, except that they seem to be notoriously cranky according to some of the shooters I've seen using them.  ;D

I belive you are correct about the "big bore" magazine parts being the same.

FWIW
;D
