What I meant was the ttn 97 and the iac 97 w they are both made by norrinco but there is a significant $ difference.

They are both made in China, but by two completely different companies.  Both are good guns.

The IAC has an inertial firing pin for extra safety, but uses metric threads.

The TTN uses American threads.

I own both.  I think you would be happy with either.  They have gooten to be quite good guns, but the Chinese still are a little inconsistant in production, so there may be some minor problems that need to be slicked up.  Both companies have been good about support.

Thanks for the reply Marauder . I have solved the problem by buying a 1906 d 22 inch barrel . Havent gotten it yet .
I really wanted one of coyote caps 93/97 because it is a 7th generation norinco. I have one of his 87s and the man knows his bus.
The only other way I could figure out to get a 6th gen. norinco for sure  is to buy a trench gun and remove the extras.
I havent gotten the 97 yet gets to my ffl mon.
You say they are made by different companys ? are they both marketed as norincos ?

Do you know that the only pump legal for SASS is the '97?

I am noboby, nobody's perfect--therefore I am perfect.

sweettooth

Yes I know they are not legal at the state and above level. Actually I have followed it pretty close.
I had a chance to feel a 93/97 today at the local toy store and they really are smooth and tight. I liked it but had already bought an original .
and I belive cap when he says they are the safest best built chinese guns to date.
Lots of opinions on the wire. One of the opinions I like is " I'm going to get one and shoot it just because they say I cant."
For myself the 3 shotguns I now have is 1 too many.

It's often the case that the importer will put their name on a gun.  For example, Navy Arms, Cimmaron, etc but the guns are made by someone else.
Similarly, neither of the current 97 imports are marketed as Norinco's.
One is called IAC (made by the same company that used to make for Norinco) and the other is TTN.

Thanks Marauder you have helped quite a bit, Its definitly a whos on first situation to me.. I guess I speak italian better than chinese.
Someone said there are only 2 people that can tell you the generations of 97 chinese guns 1 is Mr. ??? the plant superintendent and the other is coyote cap. I bookmarked caps description of how to tell them apart. But seriously one of the tests for which generation  had to do with holding the gun upside down and doing something to the bolt. Thats why I opted for a winchester. I just wanted to learn how to shoot a 97. I am not an expert on anything except what I do for a living and I plan to keep it that way. Chuckle

Yup.

And it is sorta too bad about the 93/97.  The ones Cap showed me were very nice.  And as you say, a very strong, safe shotgun.  I'm still temped between getting an 87 copy or the 93/97....

All I need is more $$ and more space for gun safes....

And more time to shoot them.... While I'm wishin'  :D

sweettooth

I probably wil get a 93/97 eventually , I kinda like the attitude "because they say I cant "but  figure I ougt to pay my dues and learn to shoot an  original first.
I had one of the 87s from cap before the IAC hit the stores . I really like shootin it and also have enjoyed my conversations with cap.
If there is an authority on shotguns , he's the man.
Chinese shotguns? no problem ,but before I shoot it I will pay the extra $ to have the man that designed it take it apart and put it back together. He said he had to throw my first one away.
I enjoyed or conversation .           Truly   Sweettooth
