I wasn't aware that lead shot was harder. Thanks for the tip.

I pulled all the # 4 size lead pellets from a case of Russian Metalic Shotgun shells a few years ago and melted them down with my bullet metal to make .44's and .45's for CAS.  They had a high antimony content and those bulles were HARD.

Most lead shot has a hardener added to them to prevent deformation during firing and travel down the tube.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

I was gonna save the shotgun pellet lead and some bullet lead i have that seems to be the same hardness  and try casting some 45/70 bullets with it , so it doesn`t go to waste .. the price of soft plumbers lead is getting rich .. but i figure even at 2 bucks a lb .. i still can cast a box of 100 balls for 4 bucks... better than paying the 9 or 10 bucks a box for the store bought .In fact the store bought balls have been going up in price too last time i looked .
