I have a couple Win 97s that need new ejector springs. The springs that I have extend too far into the action and block movement of the breech block. :(  What is the trick to installing these springs? ???

Howdy Bull, are these the springs that attatch to the frame on the outside with a small screw? if so, you can carefully file or stone them to the correct length. Let me know if this helps, if not, I'll g dig out my book on gunsmithing 97's and see what it has to say.

Thanks Major.

Yep that's the one that attaches on the left side of the receiver with a screw. I guess you reduce the length to match the ejector pin so it clears the breech block. Does this sound right?

Col. Bull, Yes, that should do the trick, maybe leave it just a bit long, it should "spring" out of the way of the bolt and kick the fired round out of the gun.

The "prongs" on the springs I have were probably at least 3/8" long and protruded way into the action. I'll give this a try and see if they work.

Thanks again for your help.
