Howdy All,

Got a lghtning in 45lc 2 weeks ago.  Shot one last month and thought it worked real good.  The posse member who let me shoot it said he sent it back right away.  Spent an extra 200.00 to get it going right.  Well I took a chance and picked one up anyway.  It had shot about 25 rounds and then sent in for a new bead sight.
The owner in the meantime decided to go to 38 cal.  When he got it back he boxed it up till I came along.  Well I picked it up for 600.00,  yeah I know it is higher than a Tarus.  I haven't heard much about the Tarus yet as to if they are shipping yet or have any problems.
Well the shooting report from yesterday: The first stage with the rifle the loading is a little harder than my 1892.  When I went to shoot the rifle the first racking of the gun did not load a round.  Second stage same thing happened.  By the third stage I checked to see if the first round was going to load, and it was.  The fourth stage went fine.
Now shooting was fast and without incident,  I rack the gun pretty good but I am a big guy.  I'd like to think that the gun brought me good luck and helped me shoot my first clean match.
Would recomend these guns on this first go round of mine,  but should get more rounds down range before that.

Haven't heard about the Taurus?!  This forum has covered it extensively, with reports from numerous owners plus links to magazine reviews.  Look down the list of topics dude.  Better yet, here's the link.

Thanks Kid,

Read those posts,  sounds like they are having a lot of problems.  Mine could have problems too but so far going good.  My oal is right at 1.58 so no loading problems and no light hits with the winchester primers yet.

Does anyone have the 357/38 yet?  And are they happy with their choice?

A dozen or so posts down from this is a thread titled "Trouble Free Thunderbolt?"  Several of those owners seem to be happy with them and have not had any problems.  Seems to be the later models, Taurus is reacting and making changes, and it seems the basic design (Colt) is a little problematic, and I've read of troubles with all the different repros and originals.  Additionally, the slide action rifles are affected by operator error.  You have to learn just what amount of force is needed to make it function reliably, it is a little more of a finesse weapon than the lever guns.
Also, if Taurus didn't make it right, they'll make it right.  Several posters here have reported less than adequet performance from the AWA repair dept.  But time will tell.   I would like to see a report from someone who has sent one back and what the result was.
