Lots of smoke at the farm this weekend as I shot my Ruger New Vaqueros with BP and Big Lube 45's.  I will start off by telling you that I could not get a .0015 feeler gauge between the cylinder and barrel.  I thought this would'nt last long.  I fired 23 45 Colt Warthog loads, 25 45 Colt loads with 1 cc dipper of grits and 25 45 Schofield loads with .7 cc dipper of grits.  All loads were loaded with Swiss 3F powder.  I never had to use any moose milk or even to wipe the face of the cylinder as it rotated freely.  I used the Swiss because it burns cleaner but I was not expecting this combo to work out this well!  I knew the Big Lube J/P 200 gr. would perform well with a small cylinder gap but I thought I would at least have to moose milk a few times.

It's nice when a plan comes together.   ;)
I ain't often right but I've never been wrong.

Howdy CCK,

That gap sounds tight.  If it works, all the better.  If it starts to drag, open it up some.  I've found the Big Lube™ bullets to be very accurate.  First off, they have very flat bases.  Second, they have plenty big driving bands.  And of course, Third, they carry so much lube that they don't loose their accuracy.  The fact that they function well only adds iceing to the cake.

One thing I like about the BLB designs is that they feed well in my rifles.  I run 'em thru Browning 92s, but they do slide thru very well.  I'd sure like to hear how they work in some of the new trombone guns.

It's a lot more fun to shoot a match when you don't have to worry about your guns runnin' and hittn'.
