Do you mean to ask if we are interested in purchasing or are you good to use it in competition?

US Scout

I'd be interested in a Henry that was able to shoot .44 Colt.

I could not afford one right now, but a Henry that could not hold 16 rounds has never excited me.

As I answeed on the henry forum I would probably be.  My Henry feeds 44 Russians fine but the over sized 44-40 chamber allwos too much fouling.  I am thinking about seeing if it can be sleeved.

A Henry in .44 Russian sounds pretty neat, if the price wasn't outrageous.

My own experience has been that the 44 colt rim is too narrow for reliable extraction in a lever gun. That said, I'd be very interested in a 44 russian henry. One question, what would bore diameter be? Personally I'd prefer .427-.429. This would allow modern 44 colt/russian rounds to be used, thinking of Black Hills or Ten-X here. Please keep us posted on this. Al.

Will,
Its funny that you would mention this as I have my Uberti Henry .45 LC torn down and getting ready to sleeve it in .44 colt, with heeled or hollow base bulletts. With the proper extractor it will feed and eject the colt round just fine for the kind of shooting I do, full loads of real black powder, slow and steady. Plus the .44 colt is the closest thing to the original henry cartridge on the market today other then being a center fire cartridge. I'm sleeving this one with 4150 armory steel.

Bill, do you think it would be possible to make and install a sleeve in the 44-40 chamber to take the 44 Russian?

Sir Charles deMouton-Black

The .44 Henry Flat rf evolved into;  1...44 Henry cf, and
2.  .44 S&W American.

While the .44 Henry cf yielded to the .44-40 in 1873, the .44 American went on to morf into the .44 Russian.

As they say about the Alaska wildlife reserve, "Why, It's Only Natural".

The primary caliber for the Henry, and improved Henry, should be .44 Russian, and why not add the .13" to allow the .44 Colt!

Yes, I would definately be interested and also would be interested if it would be offered in the 1866 Winchester.

I would love to have one in .44 Russian!
