Is legal to draw the pistol on a double cross draw rig  with the same hand such as  right pistol butt forward drawn with right hand
turning as it comes from holster ? doesnt seem to break the 170 rule.

I asked about the draw at the last shoot I was at and general opinion was that yes the draw is legal, but HIGHLY discouraged.  Most said it's only a matter of time before you sweep someone, but it was legal.

As stated, it is legal...but, I believe not for "gunfighter"...which I don't agree with....either a person can safely pull two guns at once or not. As long as the draw can be demostrated to be safe, I see no need to restrict.

This is the way I learned to draw as a kid & use this method exclusively with my percussion pistols. I demonstrate this procedure routinely at matches. If I'm with a posse unfamiliar with me, my equipment & draw....I demostrate slowly and at normal speed to assure them my technique is safe & repeatable.

Over the years, I've seen heaps of folks screw-up a standard cross-draw and even a strong-side draw (by canting the muzzle rear-ward, just as they clear leather.

I refer to my technique as a twist-draw, where the wrist/pistol remains oriented in the "draw" grip intil the barrel is rotated forward & prominantly downrange. I'm told there are several videos of me on the web (only CAS, I'm told  :o), but haven't found them to see if it shows my draw technique.
